My dad built the house in 1948, but we sold it after our parents passed away.

I have hosted international students for about 10 years. Three from France, one from Russia, two from Germany, two from Brazil and one from Thailand.

School Story:

My favorite memories were being a trainer for the football team, singing in the Meistersingers choir, being in the drama department and performing in the musical "South Pacific."

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

I had no clue. No money, no job, no car and parents weren't very supportive. But I always dreamed of wanting to be a teacher.

What and where was your 1st job? Do you remember how much you were paid?

My first job, which I got through the Texas Workforce Commission, was a clerical position for Thornhill Craver Company on Lockwood, a valve manufacturing company. I could type well, so I transcribed recordings for the Engineers. I was able to buy a car from my girlfriend's grandmother for $500. It was a 1955 Chevy.
