What elementary school(s)did you attend?

Berry Elementary

What Jr High (s) did you attend?

Burbank Junior High

Do you see or hang out with any class mates? Who?

No I don't and that's a shame. We moved to New Jersey for several years and then came back to Dallas for 34 years and I lost contact with everyone.

Update: Have been fortunate to have heard from home room buddy Reynolds Smith and the lovely Jewell Petterson Gore. Also reconnected with Linda Beth Wiggins (oops! forgot her married name) who was also a wonderful church and neighborhood friend.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I think I'm much more outgoing then I was in high school. And, I have red hair now!

Where was your favorite HS hangout?

Oh, Gosh, I was too much of a NERD and way too shy to have a hangout....except, perhaps, Mrs. Boles class after school for Debate!

List your siblings and year.

James Smelley 1967
Bill Smelley 1970

School Story:

I was shy, nerdy, but cute! Loved Speech and Debate because I could really talk when I had a topic and we had a lot of fun! Loved homeroom and my buddies there. Was a little (lot) self conscious and scared of my shadow.

My brothers were way more popular than I ever was.

Famous or interesting people you've met?

Everybody we meet is interesting if we just let them be!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Read, Write, Paint, play with my cats and TRAVEL.

Name something you dearly love. and why?

I LOVE my family. I am so lucky to have been able to retire near my Mom, my brothers and sister-in-laws, and my wonderful nephews and their wives and sons. I have such a wonderful family and we have such fun together.

Comments:

I have had a neat life. A wonderful husband and son have made my life pretty great. I had a career that I was actually pretty good at! Even if I say so myself! LOL! But most of all, I enjoy retirement and the ability to slow down and smell the roses.

Our son is disabled with a serious heart condition and lives with us but God has been good and given us the means to make his life happy and secure. And, he has the spirit and attitude to consider himself in "early retirement" and the computer guru to his family, which we all appreciate. I do think our home network could serve some small country very well!

Unfortunately we lost Van to cancer Dec. 18, 2009. The love we and the rest of his family felt for him was only matched by the friends who loved and mourn him dearly. What a delight to have spent the last five years with him. James and I are so grateful that we were allowed those years and are blessed to have been so close to our wonderful son.

The new year is sadder but hopeful. Our love will pull us through and we will live as we know he would want us to.
