I was born in a three room garage apt in Tifton Georgia.

Where was your favorite HS hangout?

Stuarts Drive Inn on North Main St. Loved the Curley Fries and was a great place to meet people.

List your siblings and year.

Only Lonely Child....Mom said she would not go through that experience again !!!

School Story:

Remember those " Fire Drills" Well, I was the school "Fire Marshall" my senior year and was nominated to be the last one out..... tough running up and down each floor just to make sure all students and teachers were outside....

What did you want to do or think you were going to do when you finished high school?

I wanted to be in the oil business. Well I made it sort of... ended up with a pipe, valve and fitting distributor that sold to the petrochemical and chemical industry. Funny how things turn out.

What and where was your 1st job? Do you remember how much you were paid?

First job was with the Texas Company ( aka Texaco) for $250.00 a month in the accounting department. My job was to make sure the red and black "ink wells" (yes I said ink wells) were full each morning, placing the posting journals on each accountants desk and raising the windows (pre air conditioning at the Texas Company) to their appropriate mark. Main function was to bind completed journals in to folders, mark and file them.

Favorite Quote

"There are basically two types of people. People who accomplish things, and people who claim to have accomplished things. The first group is less crowded."----Mark Twain

Famous or interesting people you've met?

Mickey Gilley, (we were both catching the same plane to Atlanta) ; Mike McCulley Pilot for the Atlantis Space Shuttle in '84 and up till '07was involved with the United Space Alliance. Mike is my Daughters weekend neighbor at Caney Creek Tx. Liberace ( on the street in Downtown Houston catching a cab. My wife didn't believe it was him till I stopped , shook his hand and welcomed him to Houston then asked for his autograph. (A little brazen but I did it)

Ever been on TV? Tell us all about it.

Never made the TV circut, but did sing "You Are My Sunshine" and "Let Me Be Your Sweetheart" on the radio (WTIF) at the "very" young age of 6 in beautiful downtown Tifton Georgia.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Having just recently retired, I enjoy working in the flowerbeds, learning woodworking, duff at golf and occasionally get lucky... in fishing. But mostly enjoy spending time with Ann. (gets on her nerves interferring with HER daily schedule of "stuff").

We also enjoy going to the Theater and having dinner with friends each month as well as baby sitting when called on. Grandchildren... they are such a wonderful thing .... don't you think???

Name something you dearly love. and why?

My love is my Sweetheart of some 48 years, Ann...... she makes every day brighter just with a smile.
I also share my love with my kids, my two wonderful grandkids, Mason Lee (8) and Maggie Ann ( 5) and "Barkley"... our long haired Dashound. ( he is better behaved at 2 than the grandkids are)

Comments:

My wife has told me that I was "married" to my job leaving little time for her and the kids as they grew. Now with no pager, cell phone, computer or travel hassles interferring, we will have time to travel when and where SHE wishes and I'm alright with that.

Is there a moment in your life that stands out? A moment that defines who you are? Other than kids being born or your wedding day.

When some lives that you touched rise to greater heights of success than you could have imagined, that means something. But when some of them come to you, shake your hand and say "thanks for what you did for me", it is very humbling and makes me proud to have been a part of their lives.
