Is it decided by the student body? I didn't seem to fare so well in those -- I don't think I was as popular as I would have liked to think I was HAHAHAHAHA :o)

Oh Joni-I love you! But I'm going to give you some info so you can impress your nephew with your wisdom of the Marine Corps. If he's in boot camp he is not at Camp Pendelton (well unless he's on the range right now, I believe that does actually take place on CP) Boot camp in California is at MCRD SD (Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego) Now here is the really depressing part for the guys there. The Recruit Depot is right next door to the San Diego Airport. They actually share a fence. I can't tell you how many guys said that was torture! They would all make comments about how there were times that they wish they could have been on whatever plane was flying over, because in their mind they were thinking WTH did I get myself into. Both my brothers and my husband are what is known as HOLLYWOOD Marines (that's the guys who go to boot camp in California are known as) There is a big joke that goes along with it, that Hollywood Marines are issued surfboards. My brother use to joke he was actually going to get a surfboard and paint it cammo just so he would tell the Parris Island Marines that is his surfboard he was issued. If you like I would be more than happy to send you some history on MCRD SD that way you can chat about it when he gets home.

Rach- yes it is decided by the student body. They voted yesterday. I am curious to see who wins myself, but Lauryn doesn't think she's going to win. She is up against several of her friends..LOL. Kaylin is a nominee (the girl in my life who lost her mom a few years back) Claudia is a nominee as well and both of them also play volleyball with Lauryn. I think Bri is a nominee as well she is on the soccer team with Lauryn. Those are the girls that I'm aware of who are in the running. I think there are a few more.

I think everyone here is truly inspiring.
To see hearts open in front of you is a gift. We all do things everyday that not everyone sees or knows about. But when we get together, it's a truly special thing to witness.
I personally believe I am here to hold out my hand to someone, anyone, and raise them up. I love big and fall very hard. I have a huge heart and I swear to you there are days that it aches, and it gets broken more than I care to share. I get devastated because I think hey, I'm a decent peron and I make it a point to be open, patient, loving and forgiving as much as I can. I get slammed sometimes in ways you don't know if your heart could be the same, but in those quiet moments I hear something tugging at it, and I'm back where I begin..scarred and beat up, but I am here and open wide. It's just love I think. A love for my friends, my family and even the ones who are the hardest to love. I know all of you have that in you. Each of you has given me something from the day I met you, whether high school, or recent, I take inspiration, friendship and kindness and try to put it out there as I receive it.
So see, when it all comes down to it, I think we are all an extension of all that's good and beautiful in each other. You will never know how much each of you individually has given me in my life. If you ever need to know what that is, I will share it with you.

At the end of the day the easiest thing to give is of yourself.

Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

I want to be a princess.
I want to be a Queen.
I wanted to be Molly Ringwald in high School and be Prom Queen.

Think we can have a Holiday Queen, or Old SHHS cold feet but said yes princess at the Holiday Party...LOL

Hmmm...I want a sash, a star septor bedazzled and a crown. Think I am asking to much to be "Old Prom Queen" at the 20 even?
LOL
Donna better not bring her crown to the reunion, I will jack it! LOL...Gosh, I feel terrible just saying that, she is too sweet for me to crown jack....
LOL
Just kidding you guys, I was getting waaaay too mushy so I had to bounce back with funnies.

10/30/08 12:30 PM #1469

Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

Oh yeah..I hope Lauryn wins too! Sorry, I was being princess selfish...LOL

Thanks you guys for all the excitement with the coming party. It is all worth it.
I think we should also take from Brenda and do a SHHS Girls thing...a big fun night even just once a year. A big pajama party with loads of fun. With all the genious girls here, it would rock. Maybe incorporate an awesome 80's movie like the Pretty in Pink, breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles stuff. That would be so much fun. I know once a year seems far out there, but hey it's something we can plan for so that we have an awesome turnout ya know? We can do that! But, there will be Frozen Margaritas flowing! I will bring the humor!

Now we just need a place to have it...anyone out there willing to open their home to a bunch of crazy nutty girls for an old school sleepover-pigout-karaoke-food, drink and fun filled night?
Some old school games too...but the fun ones that make being in margaritaville a place where you laugh til you pee your pants (and then clean it up cuz we're grown-ups now)

We can talk about this one and plan it if ya'll are interested for sometime next year (summer?)

LOL>.....deana

OMG ok this is probably just wrong for me to say, but I have a funny story about Donna Ryan from HS. We were in 2nd period and there was a joke told....we all just busted out laughing, donna had a strange look on her face. It was later in the day when donna all of a sudden says, "Oh now I get it" I remembered looking at her and asking what she was talking. She just looked at me and said the joke from 2nd period I get it now. I about fell on the floor! I was rolling with laughter to think she had been thinking about that joke all day, and didn't finally get it until the school day was almost over.

I think I will get us a nice size hotel room somewhere that has some fun amenities! Stephani Mitchell, Cindy Pechanec, Shelly Woolery, and lisa Mangrum did that once..I was severely ill and couldn't go..contagious..so i couldn't go, but that seemed to work out really well!

hmmm/time for some hotel research...suite time!

10/30/08 12:49 PM #1476

Deana Sampson (Jenkins)

Okay...forget that...it's Jenny's house...she deals with teenage girls, so she can handle it!
LOL

I HAVE AN AWESOME TP STORY THAT WILL SHOCK EVERYONE HERE...IT'S A CONFESSION OF SORTS..BUT WE DIDN'T GET ANYONE HERE...

WANT TO HEAR IT?

10/30/08 12:51 PM #1477

Vicki Johnson (Patzold)

Oh I forgot to mention Lauryn is playing in the powderpuff game. She came home the other night to inform us she was going to be a starter in the game and would be playing defensive end..LOL. In case you don't know The Powderpuff Game is one game they play every year where the girls play football and the guys are the cheerleaders. She came in the door after practice giving us the info about playing defensive end and we busted out laughing when she finished off the statement by saying, "apparently I'm a beast"...LOL. Now if you've been on my profile page you've seen pics of Lauryn, she's a pretty sturdy little girl, but at the same time, she's not a big girl. She was telling us about this girl that wrapped her arms around Lauryn trying to hold her back and she was still running down the field. The girl who was trying to hold her back is not a teeny tiny thing. The coach (the captain of the varsity football team) looked at lauryn and told her, that is it, you are starting! I have not seen many who can still run down a field dragging someone almost twice their size...LOL. The powderpuff game is the freshman and seniors VS the sophmores and juniors. Should be an interesting evening, last year's game sure was.

Jonel Bishop (Lockler)

I'm in. That sounds like lots of fun.

Vicky- my Chelsea had the same experience. My nephew told us a blond joke and Chelsea (the only blond) didn't get it. We almost wet ourselves laughing. Then trying to explain it to her was even worse cause we couldn't stop laughing. She still gets ribbed for that one every chance we get.

10/30/08 12:56 PM #1479

Vicki Johnson (Patzold)

Well I don't remember if any of us tried to explain it to her in 2nd period or not. I just remember as the day was almost over her just blurting out, "now I get it" I'm telling you that alone was far funnier than the joke...LOL

I have explained a few jokes in my life, but I still think when you have to explain it, it loses all the humor in it..LOL.

Hey ladies. My house is available. I have a long driveway for parking. Its nice and quite out here. As long as I don't have 100 crazy women Dave wont mind. I have a beautiful double wide but its big. We want to put a pool in and we will be building a house on our property but not anytime soon. I would love to hang out with old and new friends. I'll make the cosmopolitans...
Deana... I want to be a PRINCESS to...LOL.
Maybe we can all be princesses at our girls party and wear crowns???
V... Hope she gets it. I'll cross my fingers.

(back on Rachel's comment about changing subject quickly I'm going to do that)

In regards to the whole shipping boxes to the troops thing. Some might want to just contribute some money here and there. Once you collect the stuff, you are still going to have to mail them. That can rack up quick, I know I can't tell you how much money I've spent. A bit of info on that.......the post office has these flat rate boxes that you can fill to the brim and it's one price. I think it's about 8 bucks. As long as it fits in the box and it's closes normally it's the flat rate price.

Yeah, I want to hear the story Deana!
