Its very sad about Glade. I'm glad we have been able to connect so many classmates via the internet. If you're not on Facebook yet - get on it ! There are a bunch of Hudson grads on their as well as a few teachers. I know Glade enjoyed Facebook and staying in touch with everyone. I think its time we considered a memorial to the classmates we've lost. Maybe a tree in the park or something for the school. Just a thought... Blessings to everyone !

Thanks. Wish I could have seen you all at the funeral. Was trying to get there, but couldn't. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Day. It was just D. and me and my house. Quite relaxing and peaceful. It was warm enough to even do some cleanup (leaves) in the yard. I'm going to bed so I can get up and shop. Really, I guess I could go out right now since some stores are open at midnight. Oh, I guess I'll wait 'til 5AM. Don't spend all your money.

Hope everyone is well and living the dream.  My heart goes out to our fallen classmates and their families.  From what I have read from past posts, Glade and Jerry have been instrumental in the last reunion.  It has me puzzled though that after Glade past away posts seem to almost stop.  This seems like something that was dear to Glade.  Glade would like to have these brief snippets in communications continue.  What does everyone think?  I am out of the loop is there is a different communication path now?  Again I hope all is well and dreams are being made.  May the impossible become possible and your worries become few.  Bryan

I appreciate your thoughts.  And I want to keep the communication lines open.  I had a wonderful time with my sisters, our classmates, and the people of the town during Hudson Days and the All Class Reunion stuff last weekend.  I was only there for Saturday and look forward to possibly seeing people at homecoming, next year's Hudson Days, or some other time before then.  There were about 10 of us from the Class of '83 around last weekend.  We talked about doing something different like going on a cruise, Vegas, Chicago, or something fun venue for our 30th.  I guess that would be in 2013, so pencil that in on your calendar.  I've lived some dreams.  I've had some sorrows and disappointments.  But I am definitely still dreaming because when I don't and I lose heart and become depressed, I start to "die".  I want to keep the candle burning and to "go for the gold".  I love you all like I love my family.  This is just getting too sentimental and serious.  Let's laugh and carry on and do for others.  Have a thrilling Thursday!

Should I go for a walk, do my chores, go shopping, or just lounge around drink coffee, listen to some good music, and read before I meet a friend for lunch at the southside Applebees at 11:30?  Anyone else care to join us?!?

Boy a walk and Applebees sounds great wish I was closer.  I haven't had much time like that in the last few days since our area was hit with 17 inches of rain in a two day period.  What a mess, ended up with 45 houses under water in Savanna. Normally we experiance flooding only on the Mississippi caught everyone off guard.  Is Hudson Days the time when everyone tries to make it back?  When is it?

Fun to see a few people still on here :)  Hudson Days was fun - lots of people around ! Bryan, its usually the 3rd weekend in July.  As for other forums, a bunch of people are on Facebook - check it out !  Did you know your niece Shelby is best friends with my niece Brianna ? Small world !

How cool is that!! I will have to ask Shelby if I have meet your niece.  She has introduce a few, Not sure if one was your niece.  I meet a few this spring in Dyersville with the dance group she performed with.  How is thing in Rhondas world?  Nice pictures.  I haven't gotten into Facebook.  Have you live in CF most of the time?  Talked with Jerry this morning we talked about how we all are aging along with our parents and should have a support group for times like Jodi and Bob are going through.  its hard to lose a parent and looks like we have lost four of us also.  Would like to send a card from the Class of 83 but not sure where to send or if this would be something that our class would support.  Have seen some ideas for a 30th not sure where that stands.  What are some ideas on these topics?  I have been out of touch a long time.

I love the idea of a fun venue for our 30th reunion.  Can't believe it's been so long since we roamed the halls of HHS.  Bryan, I like your idea about supporting our class members when there's a loss.  Our class has been hit hard this year:  Marie, Rhonda, Jodi, and Bob have all lost parents, and of course our class lost Glade this year.  There may be more that I don't know of.  Keep the ideas coming, and try out Facebook.  There are several from our class who are on it.  A great way to keep up with everyone.

Nice to hear from you Lynette.  I had not heard about Marie and Rhonda losing parents, my thoughts and prayers go out to them also.  Lynette I know as we progress in age we will have more loss every year.  If we figure we are 30 years out and were 18 when we graduated, if our parents were 20 when we were born they would be at least 68.  My mom this year turned 71.  I lost my father 11 years ago.  Our lives may take us all in different directions but we all have that one common connection as the class of 1983.  This idea of coming together as a class to support one another during these times can be rewarding for all of us, but right now it is a only an idea.  I am willing to put forth effort in this but we need a plan to accomplish it.  Ideas?  I think while we are at it doing something special for our 30th is also a great idea.  After 30 years let us all focus on our compassion and companionship for one another.  I hear a lot good things about Facebook but unfortunately don't feel comfortable using it.  I hope everyone the best life can offer and our troubles few and far apart.  I also hope that those who have experienced loss this year are able to focus on love and memories to fill the emptiness.  It truly is a time where friends make a difference.  Bryan

Hello All,

I was saddened to hear about all the losses this year and hope that everyone is doing well.  Glade and Jerry put in a lot of effort to get the reunion and this forum up and running and I am sure that Glade would want us to keep it alive.   I have been running my daughters all over the country for Basketball and feel like I was out of touch with everything and everyone for the past 6 months.   Hope everyone has had a great summer, I have but I am ready for school to get back in session, (SORRY TEACHERS).  We drop Jordan, my son, off at Texas Tech on August 15th.  It will be strange not having him and all his friends around the house.

It sounds like a lot of people have gotten on Facebook.  My wife got on Facebook for her class reunion this summer but I have not taken the leap.  Hers has been pretty neat though and she has made contact with a lot of old friends.

Take Care Everyone,

Rich

Hi all,

Glad to know I am not the only person who is NOT on Facebook! Despite being a "gurl geek", I am too private of a person to do the social networking stuff (and I certainly don't have the time). I peek in on people through my daughter's account sometimes!

The only one I subscribe to is LinkedIn, and that's for professional reasons only. Come join me there!

2013 seems like forever away! Maybe we should try for a small, unorganized get-together at Hudson Days in July 2011? I'd go if I knew someone else was going to be there!

Yup... the parents are aging. Mine are 75 and 70, and Mom is on the downhill slide. But I remember that our class had about 7 people who had lost a parent before we even graduated.

Ciao!
Jane

I will tentatively plan on Hudson Days 2011.  2010 was fun with my sisters and a couple handfuls of "us".  I am thinking about Homecoming.  When is it?

Ciao back!

Hello fellow graduates of the Class of 1983 -

Just popping in to say "HI" and keep the forum going !  Fall is in full swing and the leaves are turning and dropping - that is probably something you don't miss, Jerry, is raking leaves !  My husband is in full harvest mode rite now which means I am basically a single parent :)   Looking forward to seeing anyone/everyone who makes it back in July 2011 !

Take Care & God Bless

Rhonda

Ok class of ’83 here’s a challenge!  Post a response of your most coveted memory of high school?  What was it? Let’s hear it!! What made us the Class of 1983?  May God bless you and your memories!  Whenever possible please help support the Alzheimer Association.  A great mind is a terrible thing to waste.  I lost a good friend to cancer this week, 50 years of life, too short.  If your not moving your not shaken. We are the movers and the shakers! Believe it!!

 Hi everyone

We have had some weird weather here? About two weeks ago it was 107 degrees right by the beach and the following day it was 75 degrees a little over 40 degrees in temp. difference! I shouldn't complain though it could be -40 degrees. Been busy with work which is good, and school with the kids. Blianca started JC and Casper is a sophomore in High school. I really appreciate Hudson after living in a larger city. The teachers actually cared and we got to go on field trips and other extra curricular activities . It's pretty sad here in CA the budget will not allow field trips, they cost to much money.

Any way good to see you guys are still posting!

Take care Jerry
