We have 7 Grand kids ranging from 6 years old to 23 years old in April 2024. They are the joys of my life. God also has blessed me to to have had such great classmates from the Original Virgil I. Grissom High School.

50 plus years get behind you so quickly. At our 60 year old's party it was a wonderful way to reconnect with so many people I look forward to the 50 year reunion and would love to know what has happened to so many classmates who never came to a Reunion. People really need to come to these Class Reunion Events as they are a great way to reacquaint ourselves with people we haven't seen in 20, 30, 40 or 50 years.

Our turnout has been good but I hope and pray some of those who have never attended a reunion attend as they will be a huge hit!

It is really fun for me to remember our times in high school and discuss "what ever happened to" scenarios. There are so many people that you will never see again in your life and I always will wonder what happened to.

Unfortunately as we age we also Lose more and more classmates especially in 2023 which to me makes it all that more important that we all attend high school class events. Those were some great years and great memories for me. I have lost so many Close friends the 2023 and early 2024.

School Story

There simply are so many stories picking only one is impossible for me. Most of us were so adventurous before we grew up and became adults.

I Always enjoy remembering and talking about old times with old classmates and the last tour of the school brought back so many memories. I was fortunate to have so many great classmates who made High School a most memorable time of my life.

I remember going to Pizza Hut on Golf Road after our football games. I also remember hanging out with various friends on Green Mountain.

I will never forget Grissom High school though I must say RIP to the original Grissom High School in 2016. I am fortunate to have been a part of the 1974 class with it's wonderful classmates and knew so many in the class of 1973 also. I just hope that when I pass that I am remembered to be as one of the little cogs that was a member of the great Grissom 1974 High School Class.

Prayers and condolences go out to Terry's husband and children. I had always hoped to see again after high school though it was never to be. She was an amazing and talented woman and always very kind to me.  It is sad to read now of her passing but I know she is in a better place and no longer having to live her life with the pain of cancer.

Though I did not play football, Coach Robinson always spoke to me during PE when he saw me. Several of my fellow classmates have spoken about his leadership abilities as he was a great teacher and leader for our Football team. He took the program from its beginning and built it so that within 5 years Grissom was competing for a State Championship. Coach Robinson will be missed

Mike Morelli was a guy who I knew much of my life because he lived on the same street that the Sloans lived on (Shannonhouse road). My father grew up with Mr. Sloan and they had been friends since the 1920's. I knew both Mike and his brother Rob and remember when they both worked in the restaurant business both running two different restaurants called Old Farm Beef House with one in Huntsville and one in Decatur. Mike was a great guy, full of life. I only learned of Mike's passing from his brother at Tracy Henderson's funeral which came as a shock to me. May Mike rest in peace as 2023 has been a year I have lost many of my oldest friends Mike being another of them.

Tracy Henderson was one of my 2 oldest friends with the other being Jimmy Weatherly both who I met around age 5 or 6. Tracy lived 2 houses down from me with Kay Marshall Shrout in between us. Tracy and I were as thick as mud until he went off to Korea and I went on to college. We remained friends for life and did so many things together as he was a very likeable and fun person to know. We were rascals that was for sure. He was so proud the day he had a son (chase) with his wife Angela and even prouder the day his son graduated from the University of Alabama. He is survived in death by his older brother Jay and older sister Stephanie. I will for one always miss Tracy as he will also be a large part of my life growing up. May he rest in peace.

Terry was a neighbor of mine living off weatherly road and I ocassionally drove him to high school at Grissom when I picked up other friends headed to school. Terry was a very nice guy and I am glad I had the pleasure of knowing him and his brother Ray. I was very late in learning about Terry's passing as we had not seen each other since we graduated high school and I had hoped to see him at our 50 year reunion. May he rest in peace.

Connie was a classmate of our in the 1974 graduating class and I am so glad several of us got to reconnect with her when she came up to Huntsville for a get together. I remember Connie as being one of the smarter people in our class. I was sad to read of her passing and send blessings out to her family. Too many of the class of 74 have passed. May she rest in peace.
