I believe it was Ms. Black's English Classes that prepared me for my career. :) I graduated from Baylor with a degree in Telecommunications. Then, I moved every 2 years for 10 years, working my way up the ladder in the t.v. biz... went from Waco to North Carolina to Dallas to Wichita Falls to Florida and then to Houston. BUSY! :) I've now been in Houston for almost 10 years, co-anchoring the 9pm news. The favorite part of my job is being a "doctor by day"... I spend most afternoons observing and reporting on surgeries and procedures in the Texas Medical Center. I passed out cold witnessing the first surgery (and it was just laser surgery on the eyes). Now, I can comfortably watch everything from open heart surgery, to brain and plastic surgery, without blinking an eye. It's incredibly fascinating.
As for home life, I met my soul mate in Houston, who is from VERNON, TEXAS, of all places. Remember what formidable rivals the Lions were? We have two precious boys, whom I adore. I had no idea little guys could be so much fun. Thank goodness our teachers in Big I.P. had us collect all of those bugs and pin them on styrofoam, b/c I'm avid bug hunter with my boys. :)
I finally convinced my parents to move to the Houston area! I'm thrilled -their house just sold in Sherman and they're heading south to H-Town. My children are thrilled that their grandparents will soon be living nearby.
It's been a rough 2-years, having lost 2-grandparents. I know I should feel blessed to have all 4-grandparents this long - but that made me even closer to them. They were both 93 years old, when we lost them. I still have a 95 year old Grandmother alive and a 92-year old grandfather... they're both doing fairly well and their minds are perfect, which is huge.
Life is good. :)
