Happy Thanksgiving
It's been more years than I care to remember the last time we joined at the feast of November.
We've spread North, South, East, and West. Through births and through deaths we held our breath.
We are the survivors of countless encounters. All of us African American sons and daughters.
Now here's a toast to you and your kids. Here's to all the right stuff and the good deeds you did.
You've shown the world you have what it takes. Thanks for keeping it real, thanks for keeping the faith.
Thanks to all of you mothers and dads. Thanks for all the love and the good times we've had.
Thanks for the tears and thanks for the cheers. Thank God and may He grant us another good year.
So pass the sweet potato pie, the turkey and stuffing. Hand me some collard greens and break out the muffins.
Slide me the blackeye peas and the maccaroni and cheese. I'll have some cranberry sauce, a salad (well tossed) and some giblet gravy, if you please.
Our Thanksgiving feast is world renown, with a tall glass of Kool Aid to wash it all down.
So keep growing, be forgiving, and keep on living. From my family to your family, Happy Thanksgiving.
