Donald (Donnie ) Waters (1970) (1970)
Well Hello Friends,
I have been so far out of the loop that I just found out today by signing in on the site today that Moochie and Kenny had passed. Both of these individuals really were a big part of my past. Moochie and I were really partners of the day. I remember when it all started. It began one day at the baseball park near the Jax. Bch golf course. We were down to watch Ron Anthony pitch. Clark Ballard an a group of guys came up to me and asked what the h... you doing down here. I can't remember anyone else except Moochie. They all gather around me to determine just what kind of greeting i would be getting. My mother and Ronnie's mother came over to see what was going on and Clark said something to my mother and I decided it did not matter now what would happen it was on. Moochie did not want to have any part of that, and said to Clark, "man thats not cool you are wrong those are adults don't say stuff like that, and told them to just leave him alone" and they all left. I never forgot that day. Not just because he saved me, but because of his respect for my mother. Years later we became associates that developed into a close relationship. We shared a lot of good times together. We also shared a game room and pool room on the "Hill" and man what all we didn't do. Ike, Michael, Moochie and I, we "did it" together. Concerts, games, parties you name it we "did it". It was times when people would say how on earth do you deal with Moochie's ways, and I would say the same way he deal with mine. It would be times when I would talk to him and he wouldn't say a word, but it was ok I knew he could hear me. I remember he had not said a word for two days and I told him I was going to get me a whopper and i would be right back. I knew he wanted one so i just got him his usual. Got back gave him his bag and out of no where he said I don't want this ..... you didn't bring me any salt. I should have known better he would not eat without his salt. Someone said how dare he be so inconsiderate, and I said what are you talking about, If he put cheese on my whopper i would do the same thing. We where just that way! We were FRIENDS. Man i got some (lots) memories, we really laughed a lot together, all of us. I could go on and on. Man i haven't talked to him for some years, but I knew we were still friends. RIP
Now Kenny told his mom when he was very young that he wanted to be just like me. His mother told me she could not wait to see just who was that Donnie Waters that my son keeps telling her about. Every time I would see them they would remind me of how he talked about being like me. Kenny and I would always sit and have great times talking and how I would try and point him in the right direction as a youngster! He was always smiling when we met, if he was troubled I would never have known it. He will be missed. RIP
These two guys were a BIG part of my "GOOD OLD DAYS"
My condolence to each family, Jackson, Harrel and also the Grant
