Wow! I can't believe in 5 days, "Old Skool Reunion 2 will be taking place! I am so excited about the planned events but most importantly fellowshipping with my classmates! I must admit a twinge of sadness overcame me today ! Barbara informed me that as she was doing the memory section she had to add 18 names that have passed since we last met 6 years ago and how hard it was adding their names to the memoriaI! I thought about some of the classmates I reached out to saying, I am not feeling it this time maybe next time! I thought to myself Classmates tomorrow is not promised to us and who knows but God if there will be a next time ! I am so appreciative of those of you who chose to join us in this celepration and thank God for each and every one of you!
I am thinking back to Old Skool Reunion 1 and how it got started. Barbara, Willard, Diane, Alvin and myself and a few other classmates were just standing around talking after attending my Cousin Kenneth(Kenny) Ruffin's homegoing services. When someone I don't remember who said, you know we need to come together on a happy occasion instead of always meeting up at homegoing services! So, then the idea was born and I was like yes, this is a good idea I will participate. Well, I have to be honest, I had made this promise many times before but later on would just forget about it. However, a couple of weeks later Barbara called and said are you ready to do this ? I am like well yes, let's talk about it in a few months! Then she says I am talking about now, do you want to do this or not because if I have to go it alone I will! I said ok thinking sure she is just talking this but nothing is going to take place. Then she says I have the website all set up! I go to the website and seeing it I get all pumped up and I say ok I will type the names from my yearbook. Believe it or not I typed the names for the profiles in one night! We called Willard and said are you still interested in planning the reunion we talked about and he said I am in! The rest is history! The three of us spent many nights in planning and after seeing the magic in the first one vowed we had to do this again!
So then begin "Old Skool Reunion 2", we enlisted the help of another classmate to join us in planning Old Skool Reunion 2 and she readily accepted! So Sheila joined us and the Committee went from 3 members to 4. Sheila we thank you so much for all that you have done and becoming a member of our team! We spent lots of time( many nights ) trying to plan the best reunion we could so that our classmates can fellowship and enjoy each other's company! I pray for traveling grace and mercy for all those traveling to the reunion and God Willing I will see you all there!
Peace, Love and Blessing to all of our classmates that will there and for those who for any reason that could not join us!
Sincerely, Sylvia Jones Martin
