Rest in Peace Boobie you will never be forgotten. From the Message Forum:
Hi all what's up? As I was looking for more music to download some of the selected songs brought memories for me. Does a particular song remind you of certain events and times in your life? Here is my story:
Song: Girl you too Young-Archie Bell and the Drells
In 1968( 8th Grade), I had this big crush on
Tom ( Boobie) Sullivan a Senior Football Player at Fletcher who went on to attend the U of Miami and play professional ball for the Philadephia Eagles. Well, one night I got my opportunity to finally talk to him , arranged by none other than Joe Black. Well, he met me in the back of the Place ( Tony's) and when I opened my mouth I sounded like the 14 year old that I was. He was like little girl go back inside and talk to me in about 3 or 4 years. My big moment and I blew it! After that he would come into Tony's and play the song mentioned above and I knew it was meant for me(smile). I can still remember some of the lyrics:
“ Girl, you too young, oh yeah, your mama won’t allow it, your pop will shout about it. You're just a little school girl growing up like mad. let's not get started cause how long you think this love will last? Don't make the people hate us. Come back later."
This is my story. What yours? Come on yall don't leave me hanging share your song/story with the group(smile)
PS. I'll run your song on the homepage for a day!
