Carol Jean Cook Miller

Happily married to the love of my life for almost 30 years. For about a decade, we lived aboard a sailboat with our cat, Monet, and, for a number of years, our grandson, Aaron. We haven't had the opportunity to sail many places - yet. But we sailed from Savannah to Jacksonville, and made a two-week trip from the West coast of Florida near Sarasota, down to the Dry Tortugas and Keys, and up the East coast of Florida to Jacksonville. But 6 years ago, we moved back inland into an historic brick bungalow in Murray Hill (did you know that Murray Hill was its own city for a few years?).

We have been blessed with 9 beautiful grandchildren: Bryan, Autymn, Meilynn, Aaron, Selah, Leah, Sabrina, Alivia, and Malachi. They call me "Nanny" and Steve "Papa."

For many years, I worked as a legal secretary and legal assistant in various law firms, mostly personal injury and wrongful death (about half of the time for plaintiff lawyers and half for defense). Almost 15 years ago, my husband, Steve, & I started a cabinetry and remodeling business. I worked with him for about 5 years, then went back to school to complete my RN. Ironically, my step-daughter, Rachael, was accepted into the nursing program at the same time I was, and we graduated together. NEVER give up on pursuing your dreams - especially if you feel that it is something to which God has called you!

My husband, Steve, is an artist. He sells his paintings and drawings from his studio downtown, particularly at the first Wednesday Downtown Art Walk. He does commissioned pieces, as well. He has taught art and is available for private individual or group lessons.

We love the Lord and our hearts are toward missions.

My senior year was a blast! I had completed pretty much all of my required studies for graduation, so I sang almost all day! Chamber Singers and Consort Singers were the best. Loved our Choral Director, R. Wayne Bailey. I know a lot of people hated school, but I loved it.

I had so much fun at our 35th reunion and saw many of my old friends, quite a few I'd known literally since grade school! What an added bonus that my fave teacher, R. Wayne Bailey, was also there! One of my best pals, Jeff Hobbs, couldn't make it to the reunion, but came to town shortly beforehand, and my husband & I had dinner with Jeff, his wife, & niece!

A bit of trivia: I typed all of the hundreds of 4 x 6 cards with each person's name to be called out at graduation, using a huge manual typewriter with extra-large print! What a job!
