Professionally, I wound up being a computer scientist and have taught the subject and done research in the area
(parallel simulation, a kind of high performance computing) at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
I came to the area by way of mathematics-I got a PhD from Brooklyn Poly (now NYU Poly) in 73 I think. At least I can remember my birthday for sure).
I got married to a fellow mathematician (at the time, anyhow) Evelyne (nee Hausen) Tropper. I carried her books home from Brooklyn Poly, where I met her (true story). We were married in 1968, and wound up living all over the East coast, chasing jobs and careers. Along the way we were blessed with the 3 most beautiful daughters in the world (OK, don't say it). Evelyne retired a few years ago from her teaching position at the University of Quebec.
We wound up living in Lake Placid, NY, and love the place. Given the nature of the place (winter Olympics, world cup events), there in an un-ending amount of fun to be had in the outdoors around here. I take advantage of all of it-skiing, hiking, biking, climbing (less lately) and so on into the night. I am hoping to hike in the Himalayas in the coming spring with my two youger daugters, Gigi and Sabrina.
