Carolyn Mae Budwick, 76, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2016, with members of her family by her side. Born in Virginia, IL, on July 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mabel (Black) Cramer. She was born in the home that her father was born and raised in. The family moved to Kenosha in 1950 and has been her residence since. She attended Bain Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Kenosha High School in 1958. She graduated from Marvel Beauty School in Milwaukee, WI, in July 1961.


On November 26, 1961, she married Nicholis Charles Budwick who survives her. She is also survived by her four children: Susan R. (Edward) Zagata, David J. (Michelle) Budwick, Kathleen A. (James Bielen) Jewell, and Christine A. Budwick; a brother: Jacob Cramer of Virginia, IL; two sisters: Margaret Frederick of Covington, WA, and Naomi Copes of Zion, IL; four grandchildren: Nicole Christine Jewell, David Jacob Charles Budwick, Anthony Noah Rodriguez, and Natalie Ruth Bielen; and a great grandson: Jacob Allen. Further survivors include two step-grandchildren: Robert (Andrea) Hauck and David B. Zagata; three step great-grandchildren: Rachel, Robert Jr., and Ashley Hauck; and two very special children: Faith Wojnarowski and Jordan Murray. She is further survived by five nephews and seven nieces, brother-in-law: Robert Budwick, sister-in-law: Linda St. Pierre, ten cousins, and many friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her in-laws: Charles and Marion (Flament) Budwick, sister-in-law: Roberta (Schweichler) Budwick, great nephew: Jamison Leonard, and a specially loved niece: Lisa (Frederick) Turpin. 


After working for fifteen years at Labella Beauty Shop in Kenosha, Carolyn partnered with her sister, Naomi, as co-owner of a salon in Zion, IL, for fifteen years. Hair dressing was her vocation but, she found her avocation when she worked at Wilson Elementary School for ten years as an office assistant. She served for 30 years as a member of the Pleasant Prairie School Commission and represented Pleasant Prairie on the Kenosha County Library Board. She also held many offices in the PTO while her children attended Prairie Lane Elementary School. 


Carolyn’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of ManorCare and Hospice Alliance for the kind and compassionate care they gave her.
 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15th, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place on Friday, December 16th, in the chapel at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park at 11:30 a.m.
