Marge Van Patten

1940-2018

Marjorie Ann (Kneipper) Van Patten, 78, of Hillsboro, OR passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018 surrounded by her family, following a short battle with cancer..

She was born in Kenosha, WI on June 21, 1940, the daughter of Edwin and Myrtle (Stanley) Kneipper.  She attended St. George Catholic School and Bradford High School, graduating in 1958.

Marge married Chuck Van Patten on July 3, 1959 and they enjoyed nearly 52 wonderful years together until Chuck’s death in May 2011.

She worked at Johns Manville in Waukegan, IL for 30 years, doing key punch, data entry, and accounting.  She and her family were active members of Kenosha Bible Church for many years, where Marge forged friendships that she cherished throughout her life. 

She was active in the Kenosha Band Boosters and had fond memories of cheering on the Band of the Black Watch during its heyday in the early to mid 1980’s.  She also enjoyed camping and vacationing with her family, leaving countless heartfelt and fun memories. Marge was known and loved by anyone who knew her for her spunky personality and sharp sense of humor.

For retirement, Marge & Chuck moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they truly lived life to its fullest for 17 years. They traveled extensively throughout the Western U.S. and Canada.

She is survived by her children, Pam (Tim) Tougas of Appleton, WI, Heidi (Jeff) Sundin of Portland, OR, and Greg (Carmell) Van Patten of Seattle, WA; brother Jeff Kneipper of Sturtevant, WI; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck and her parents Edwin & Myrtle Kneipper.

A small memorial service was held in Hillsboro in celebration of her life.
