Joan Mae Reynolds, 81, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, January 27, 2021 at Froedtert South Kenosha Hospital.

She was born on September 22, 1939 to the late Albert and Cornelia (Esidor) Smestad in Stevens Point.  She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1958.

Joan met Dick Reynolds at a family picnic on July 4, 1955 and they married on July 18, 1959 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church.

Joan worked at Kenosha Memorial Hospital (now Froedtert South) for 19 years as a Unit Secretary.  After resigning from her position, she volunteered in the baby ward, rocking newborn babies while their mother’s rested.  She was the school lunch lady and playground supervisor at Roosevelt School.  More than once, she went home and packed lunches for the kids who forgot their lunch. 

Joan enjoyed long car rides with Dick, knitting, cross-stitching, puzzles, reading and collecting We Energies cookbooks, to name a few of her hobbies.

Joan will be forever loved and dearly missed by her husband Dick, her son Rick (Debbie) Reynolds and family James (Katie) Fuhrer and Jamie Reynolds, her daughter Jodi (Jeff) Hanson and family Jacob (Danielle) Hanson and Jackie Hanson and her son Dan (Jennifer) Reynolds and family Kyle Reynolds, Kory Reynolds, Kayla Sellman and Kennedy Sellman and her nine great grandchildren with one on the way.  She is also survived by brothers Al (Barbara) Smestad, Don (Irene) Smestad, her sister Mary (Terry) Rice and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

She is preceded in death her parents, her sister Lenora Fuhrer, her brother-in-law James Fuhrer and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Maya Reynolds.

Private Family Services will be held.  A Celebration of Life will be held later this year.
