Janice Phyllis Lane, age 76, of Johnsburg, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. Janice was born December 17, 1939, to the late John and Emelia (n e Siirila) Zapuscienski. On June 9, 1962, she married the love of her life, Richard Lane, at 1st United Methodist Church, in Kenosha, WI. Janice attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she graduated with a degree in education in 1962. She was a teacher for the Johnsburg School District for many years. In high school, Janice was the class secretary and she received the DAR Award. She was an active member of the community as a Girl Scout Leader, Red Hat Society, Jaycettes, and 1st United Methodist Church, in McHenry. Janice enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She loved to travel, especially to Door County, but her favorite times were those spent with her family and friends. She was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. Janice will always be remembered for being caring, loving, and selfless. Janice was survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard; children, Sue (Dan) Wasik, Amy Lane, Cindy (David) Weston, and Kathy (Mark Hutchison) Lane; and 10 grandchildren: Nick, Patrick, Andy, Jon, Maddie, Ella, Sofia, Paige, Zach, and Harriet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Elizabeth. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with funeral service beginning at 7:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory 591 Ridgeview Dr., McHenry IL. Interment will be private.
