Thank you Dale and Betsy!  The committee appreciates your wise input.  We are meeting this Saturday, June 13th, to make the final decisions.  We will notify everyone of the decisions made after the meeting on Saturday.  Stay tuned!!

If the Governor is firm on allowing full reopening by August or September, then I think we should keep the reunion scheduled as planned. Those classmates who do not feel comfortable, can still wear masks and/or do social distancing.

I would explore with the hotel that if the Governor changes plans what our options are.

Hello - As someone who would have to fly in for this event I am already counting on not attending.  Staying safe from the virus while flying sounds just a bit too risky for me.  I am happy to delay the reunion for a year.  I look forward to seeing you all another time.  Meanwhile, we are staying safe on our 5 acres with a giant garden to keep us busy and fed.

Stay well, Laurie

Just a few facts…

We're all in the High Risk Group

As of June 10, 2020

California COVID-19 Statistics

Total Dead - 4769

Over Age 60 Dead - 4048

85% Dead

Do you like those odds?

Worse - the CDC expects a resurgence

Why risk it?

Yay Dale!  A voice of reason and sanity. I agree with you completely.

Greetings from the Bay Area! Thanks SO MUCH to everyone on the 50th reunion committee for all the work and thought you have already put into the event.  As much as I've been looking forward to seeing everyone this fall, I would prefer to postpone our reunion for a year.  It is a tough decision to make, and I know you'll weigh all the options carefully.  If we keep the October 10, 2020 date, I won't be able to attend, but will hope to see you all in the future!

Cheers...May

Greetings, and thanks to the committee (yay Debi!) for all the work.  I"d love to see everyone, but I, too, would be flying in, and am not very eager to do so.  No matter what any governor says, the virus rates are still rising.  I  agree with Dale; put it off so we can have a truly enjoyable reunion with as many people as possible present.  Jim Nelson cited the stats in California, and they are just as bad, if not worse, everywhere else.  Perhaps we put off the reunion for now pending a vaccine.  It doesn't even have to be a year from now, just until there is a real indication that this thing is getting conquered. There is really no evidence that things are getting any safer than they were three months ago.  If you all do decide to continue as planned, I probably won't be joining you, but I will be there in spirit!

Dear LCHS70 Classmates,

We hope this message finds everyone in good health and staying safe in these uncertain times.

We wanted to reach out to all of you with an update regarding  our 50th Reunion, October 9-10, 2020.  After careful consideration, it has been decided it would be most prudent to postpone the event until next year, probably around mid-late September 2021.    Because we are postponing and still under contract with both the Marriott Bay View Hotel and the Balboa Yacht Club, the reunion will still be held at these two facitlities. When the updated contracts have been completed, an updated invitation will be sent to you and posted on LCHS70.com.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message Debi or Penny at LCHS70.com.   We send our wishes that you and your families stay well.

All the best,

Your LCHS70 Reunion Committee

Debi, Penny, Wendy, Currie, Margaux, Gary, Garrett, John, Kenette, Sally, Scott, Kristina

Aloha and thank you To the to the reunion committee for making a difficult, but wise decision. The Hawaiian islands are still under a 14 day quarantine for those returning from the mainland,, and it doesn't appear that our governor is in any rush to open up incoming air travel. I hope to see you all healthy in the near future. Mahalo

Hello all! I believe this was a difficult but wise decision. Thanks to the reunion committee for the devotion they have put into the immense planning involved with this event. The COVID-19 virus is currently having a major spike in my state and I was becoming more resigned to the probability that I would not be able to attend. I look forward to seeing each you in 2021. Start chilling that wine Margaux!

Haha, Jill, just gives me more time to keep that moonshine coming, should be at least a bottle per classmate and guaranteed to kick the butt out of any virus 😁😁😁

I think its a good idea to push this out until 2021. Seems most events are doing that as well. I bet the venue s are more willing to let you re book vs cancel without penalties. See you all in 2021!

To the committee . . . .you are all the BEST!  You worked your little asses off on this reunion only to have this unknown virus come into our world, shake us up & spit us out!  Who would have thought anything like this would ever happen??  I'm really sad we won't all be together this year, especially when it was going to be held in my own backyard.

I hope everyone is healthy & stays that way.  I'm praying for our country & all its rhetoric as well.

On a happy note, Jan Fish & I spoke on the phone last week, we're planning a get-together soon!

Love, Love, Love you all!

Lindy

Hi all,

I have yet to receive an udated invite to the rescheduled class reunion planned for September 24 - 25 2021. Has this event been cancelled? I have seen no further information about it since last fall.

Thanks and hope all have remained well!

Stuart

Hi Stuart

Thank you for your message. Yes the reunion is still planned for Set 24-25,2021. I am sorry that there has not been an updated Evite. We are awaiting details from the hotel and venue so that we can have all of the latest information for everyone. California has been slow to open and changes almost every week. We hope to have the new Evite ready to send in May. Looking forward to seeing you.
Take care, Penny

5 June 2021:

Hello All:

Not sure if I can make it to the reunion. This has been hell of a year for me & my family:

  • In January 2020 my wife broke her foot.
  • Then COVID & the lock-down.
  • In August & September 2020 we evacuated for 6+ weeks due to CZU Lightning Fire. Nearly lost our home; fire came within 150 feet of it.
  • January 2021 we again evacuated for 1 week due to debris flows (resulting from CZU).
  • Early April 2021, one of my brothers suffered a traumatic respiratory stoppage while on road trip to Minnesota. Hospital released him last week, after a total of 6 days ICU + 3 weeks in hospital + 3 weeks in PT, OT, ST.
  • Now wondering how 2021 Fire Season (June - November) will be for us.

Hopefully things will settle-out so I can plan on attending.

Wishing you all and your families good health, and the best of luck,

Chris

Chris,

What a horrible run of luck!

The good news is you're still standing - Maybe (Hopefully) the reunion will be a cause for celebration.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Best,

Debi

Hello everyone.  First of all thank you committee for all your work and timeless energy with organizing the reunion.

Attending the reunion -  I'm concerned with Covid on the rise again.  Numbers continue to rise on a daily basis.

Hard to predict the situation for September.  I would like to know what precautions will be taken.  Will masks be required for all attendees?  Capacity of the space for the venue to social distance?  These are some deciding factors to attend.  Not just for myself but also for others.   After all we are 69/70 years old and I'd say that's a risky group .  I know that we can not predict how Covid will play out but I believe there should be some thought regarding Covid and the safety for all attendees.

What position does the committee take on this issue.
