I have had a lot of jobs at various firms since I graduated form college in 1979. On January 25, 2016 I started a full-time permanent position as a software engineer at Penta Technologies here in Brookfield. My main responsibilities consist of fixing defects and producing enhancements in the core part of a very large and complex software package. Penta produces accounting and project costing software for the construction industry. Construction firms with over $100 million in sales per year are their customers. Unfortunately, I was terminated from my job at Penta Technologies on July 27, 2017 for unspecified reasons.
On August 24, 2017 my mother, Dorothy J. T. Dedo, had a stroke at the Sarasota Airport. She was taken to the Sarasota Memorial Hospital and the doctors also found a heart irregularity. They implanted a pacemaker. Unfortunately, Mom developed a serious case of dementia from the stroke. I flew down to Sarasota on August 26 and stayed for 3-1/2 weeks, returning on September 19. Mom stayed in the Carroll Skilled Nursing Center at Glenridge on Palmer Ranch from August 2017 until January when she moved into the Highlands Assisted Living Center at Glenridge. She stayed there until March 2019 when she had a second strike which was much worse. Mom died at Glenridge on June 27, 2019.
I worked a 23-month consulting job at Navistar at their corporate HQ in Lisle, Illinois from April 2018 until March 2020. I lost that job due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I did software development of the Dealer Inventory Alliance (DIA) and TOLAS software systems, both of which run under OpenVMS. In October 2021 I was hired by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) doing software development and system support under OpenVMS. I am still working at TCS as of April 2023.
