Glenda Horwill Roff

After finishing off high school in Australia, I studied Interior Design at the RMIT & then Curtin Uni in Perth, Western Australia.

I married Paul Roff in 1994 after a long courtship that started just after I finished high school. We have no kids of the normal variety, but 2 dogs to adore.

I am currently working as a kitchen designer & loving it.

I did pop back to the Oly for a few weeks in 1990 and catch up with a few people. I'm hoping I can come over next year for the 25th reunion and see many more :)

My year as an exchange student at NTHS changed my life & how I saw myself.

You might think that American school life would be similar to that in Australia, but it was vastly different. I came from a girls' school half the size of NTHS so it was bound to be a different social experience.

I loved. I experienced love.

I made some of the best friends I have had in my life. You guys can take credit for teaching me to hug :) (Not that Australians don't - I just wasn't in the habit before 1987!). I feel these are friendships I still 'have' not 'had'.

I saw 'family' through living with other families. As a 16 year old, I think I missed what was potentially the worst teen/parent year, and went home really appreciating my own parents.

With no academic obligations for the year - I got to play at school - sing for 2 hours a day, and draw for 2 hours a day but still end up in Mr Moench's after school maths tutorial.

Thanks for welcoming me, including me, encouraging me and listening carefully when I was talking too fast (one class member did confess at the end of the year that they had could hardly understand me at all when I first arrived). You were all awesome.
