Ken and I ran together during our junior and senior years and it appears that Ken won the race since he crossed the finish line first. Had not communicated with Ken in decades but the memories of us running together as well as drinking together and talking a good story was what it was all about in those formative years. Still miss the guy. Warm Alohas from the Big Island. A hui hou Ken Iain (the) Young formerly known as Iain Daugherty until I met my father then took his name.

As the only class member living in Hawai`i I can say that the 6.9 quake was like riding a bull, standing on its back for a minute and a half. The lava events occure in the East Rift Zone which has been on local watch list as the site to next erupt and that day is today. There are currently 30 fissures spewing lava bombs into the air a hundred feet or more. All that activity takes place 20 miles from our house at a much lower elevation and the tradew push the gas cloud away from us. We see more on national RV than could be viewed locally. All is well.
