In Memory

Mike Cipollina (Blair)

Michael Sandra Cipollina Blair Passed away quietly in her sleep at home, in the early morning hours of January 13th, 2010 putting an end to her twenty-five year struggle with emphysema. Michael, born on August 24, 1943, was raised in Mill Valley, attending Old Mill School, Alto, Edna Maguire, Marin Catholic, Redwood High School and College of Marin. Though she spent years living in San Francisco, Texas, Louisiana and Maryland, her heart always remained in Mill Valley.
Michael enjoyed music, flowers, a good book and politics, but, above all, she loved time spent with friends and family. She is survived by her loving partner of almost twenty years, John Goddard. She is also survived by her five children: Kirk Sievers (Wife Jennifer), Allison Anderson (Husband Floyd), Paige Hanks (Husband Dale), Michael Blair and Parrish Blair. She is further survived by eleven grandchildren, as well as her sister Antonia Cipollina and her brother Mario Cipollina. She is predeceased by her twin brother, John Cipollina and her parents, Evelyn and Gino Cipollina. Michael was loved by all who knew her and she will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either Marin Hospice By the Bay or Doctors Without Borders.

I knew Mike (her real name was Manuela) first at Tam where we had classes together.  I visited her home and met her mom, a lovely lady who had been a serious classical singer.  That must be where the musical genes came from because her brothers John and Mario both went into music.  I had a huge crush on John in his "Elvis" incarnation, when he plays Brown's Hall on Miller Avenue before it got straightened out and became the Marin Buddhist Center.  We didn't see each other as much at Redwood but remained friendly.  We met again years later, maybe 10 years ago, after she and John Goddard, another old friend, got together.  They came to dinner at my house and she was still as beautiful as ever with those startling big eyes.  John survives her.  A lovely woman.
