In Memory

Allen Solo

Redding, CA

Allen "Al" Solo, born on August 28th and raised in the California Bay Area passed on February 13th.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor Solo, his children Mike Solo, Dan Solo, Kathie Ruiz and seven grandchildren. Allen also was beloved by Eleanor's children, Melody, Robert, Jay and Joy.

A mill worker by trade, he also held positions with the San Francisco Chronicle and Mercy Medical Center. His employment was varied, which allowed him to meet many people and forge lifelong friendships. A lover of animals, Allen also leaves behind three dogs and a parrot. He also enjoyed gardening, especially roses and tinkering with an occasional lawn mower.

His passing was sudden due to complications from surgery. He will be missed deeply and his wish was for all to remember him with a warm heart and a light chuckle. He was very gentle and kind.

He will be forever missed by his wife, Ellie.

I knew Allen when I was at Redwood. I can't remember if we had a class together or if he was just part a small group of friends that I had. I lost track of all but a couple friends after graduating as we moved out of state as soon as I graduated. I remember him as a good guy and so sorry to hear of his passing.

Hello Ellie.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I remember Allen from our grammar school days at Larkspur Corte Madera Grammar School.  And I agree with your comment about Allen being a gentle soul.  That is exactly what I think of when I hear the name Allen Solo.  I'm sad that he is gone.  My heartfelt sympathies to his family who loved him dearly.    Linda Albertoni Barr

Dear Ellie, I remember Allen very well.  I was a fairly invisible shy girl in grade school but we had a little dance when we were both in our eighth grade and Allen, bless his heart, was the only one who asked me to dance.  I remember him as kind and quiet and sweet.  I wish I had known him better but I will never forget his kindness to me when I was so unhappy.  Deepest condolences,  Kimberly West Breeze

Dear Ellie,
I am so so sorry for your loss.  I remember Allen so well.  He had the gentlest heart and was so caring.  You know that better than any of our classmates do.  What a tragic loss for you and all the family, from complications from surgery.  Again, I'm so very sorry.
