Mme. Grewal

Mme. Grewal touched my life in so many ways.  She made each student feel special and to become our best.  She made her classes fun with games and songs. (I can still sing some of them after 30 years!)  She made learning French have relevance in our lives by letting us "plan" vacations for our future where we would need to speak the language.

My favorite memory was when she took us to her home for a fondue party.  It was so exciting for me that fondue became our family tradition for Christmas Eve.  This was first celebrated with my parents and brothers, but later with my own children and niece and nephews.  Many friends have joined in the fun as well.  We serve French foods--on a menu or labeled in French.  We wear black and even have worn berets on occasion.  I 'try' to sing some of the French Christmas carols.  Hopefully, my children will carry on this tradition with their children.

I became a teacher after High School.  I tried to emulate Mme. Grewal's teaching style in my classrooms.  I tried to make my classroom exciting and to use some unconventional methods to make learning more fun and so that the students would look back on their education as a great experience.  I hope that they learned as much from me as I learned from Mme. Grewal.   My son blessed me most the day that he said that he wanted to become a teacher some day "just like mom" because my class was a model for him.

Carol Grewal may never know how important she was in my life (unless she reads this), but she isn't the type to require accolades.  She will ever remain in my heart as "Teacher of a Lifetime"!

I remember as a junior being in Mr  Parkers American Goverment Class. He told the class that there were on twenthy five Ammendments to the Constitution. I told him there were 26 and we debated each othr. I told him that the 26th Ammendment was passed in 71 or 72 and gave 18 year olds the right to vote. He said that was correct. Another time he said to the class that Thomas Jefferson was not the President ofthe United States. I debated this with Mr Parker too. I told him what chapeter & page that  he couild check out the presidicency of Thomas  Jefferson. He did and that ended that.

I had typing in the 9th grade and had to stay in the nurse's office due to my having a seizure. When I arrived at Miss Daniels'  room she wanted an excuse for my absence. I told her that my name was on the piece of paper the teachers received each dy tellingthe who was supended, in The  nurses office etc. I poited my name outto herseveral times to notavail. She was about to call the principal when I shoved the paperin her face and it was then that she saw my name and realized that I was telling the truth.

WOW, those sound like your LEAST favorite teachers!  I sure hope that none of my students will ever write that about me.  I'm sure that some of my students probably thought I had lost my mind sometimes.  Who was your FAVORITE????

I like Mr. Parker but wondered how he was rteaching American Goverment with out knowing that Thomas Jefferson was the President of the United States. I remember that the year before Mr. Parker had been teching PE and when an Amercian Goverment Teacher retired, the chose Mr Parker as a replacement.

I liked Miss Herbst and Miss Synold who later became Mrs Canfield. I also liked Mr Acre.

Miss Synold/Mrs Canfield was an English Teacher,  I forget what Mr Acre taught and I am not sure what Miss Herbst taught. I think MisHerbst died sometime around 1979 or1980.

Ms. Herbst was a government teacher.  She did pass away while we were still in school.  If anyone has info on her, I will add it to the "In Memory" site....

I thought Mrs Morrison was great.  She taught some of the art classes but was so down to earth.  I took a class called Commercial Art - that really tweaked my interest.  I studied Graphic Design and Marketing in college a bit, but absolutely am interested in what motivates people to change behavior.

Hmmmmmm, Madame Grewal, Well I wastn't a terachers pet, however the two of us shared so much. We went through many things that I can't even describe but the fondest memory is when I saw her cry like a baby at our very first reunion. As a senior I knew my school days were done so when she said she would flunk me if I didn't show up on the last day of school , I didn't really care. Well I did senior ditch day and got an "F" on my report card as she threatened.I ask ed for it and she held her ground.... she felt soooo bad at the reunion and I tried top tell her it was "OK" and she remembered that grade for 10 years. She also was involved in the ski club and she didn't realize the "baba au rum" that she would get me at the bakery gave me a buzz that lasted most of the day. Carol was right, she touched us in a way that we couldn't realize and will never forget.

Mme. Grewal, was the best. I had her for 3 years, although I took French for 4. I remember going to this little French Restaurant and ordering Coq au vin and a creme' puff.  We also had pen pals that we had to write to, in French of course, and getting the letter back was so exciting. We had to read and translate in English what our letter's said.

Mrs. Jensen, Choir Teacher. I first had her as my teacher in the 7th or 8th grade at William E Orr Elementary School with Van Henry and Larry. When I transferred to EHS and found out she was there I had to sing with her again. She taught me how to stay on key which my husband appreciates. I owe it all to her.

Mrs. Canfield, English Teacher. Some thought I was a teacher's pet, but I was just an English junkee. She made it so easy and fun to be in her classroom.

Mr. Waite? or White? Science teacher, did not like having him before lunch. Between disections and jars of animal parts "yuck" who could eat. But he was fun.
