Denver, Colorado and Grand Junction, Colorado and back to Las Vegas.
UNLV and Mesa State (Colorado). Started in Physical Education and Recreation and ended with a degree in Graphic Design.
I worked in recreation centers, YMCA's, military, municipal and private pools and competitive gymnastics clubs (teaching swimming, teaching and coaching gymnastics, teaching art, working in camps) forever. I've have retired from the City of North Las Vegas, Parks & Recreation with 30 years in. I supervised recreation centers, seniors, sports, and aquatics through the years. A lifetime of helping people stay active, fit, and have fun. Retirement is interesting. I've been discovering, learning, and trying new things. I've been an environmental educator and interpreter for UNLV's Public Land's Institute, Great Basin Institute, Southern Nevada Agency Partnership, lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Clark County Wetlands Park.
We love hiking, camping, kayaking, skiing, photography, and adventuring all over the west. Our family is all over the states (Colorado, California, Georgia, Virginia, Iowa, Missouri) so we do that too. A bit of international travel has been life changing - Australia, Fiji, and China.
Two good marriages. All the kids grown, educated, and gone . . . and self-sufficient. Boy, life has changed and somehow what I used to think of major isn't anymore. Our family is healthy and happy. I bought a small ranch in Spring Creek, NV and am building a home there, maybe. Maybe we'll head to Colorado. . . . I am planning on spending my retirement promoting environmental education and literacy, painting, hiking, and reconnecting with old friends.
Working out in the gymnastics room upstairs in the gym. Running the last leg of a really good 440 girls relay team (3rd in state). Watching the boys soccer team. Mrs. Hyatt, Mrs Morris - both very supportive and inspirational ladies. I enjoyed being at a new school - new friends and plenty of good times.
Gymnastics, soccer, and running were such a huge part of my life for nearly 40 years. I've finally figured out that life isn't a race to see who gets to the end first. Life is good
