tractor and car mechanic for a couple of years until I got tired of getting my hands dirty, then went to college to study chemistry. Worked briefly for Procter & Gamble, then did a postdoc at the University of Utah. Have been a professor at Baylor University for about 20 years.

Became a Christian my senior year of high school. I'll let someone else decide if anything else could be called major.

I grow blackberries as a hobby. I also try to spread the word that organic chemistry strongly suggests that life on Earth is no accident.

David Schell (EHS '76) got to Waco a few years before me as a policeman, is still here.
