Deanna Ballinger (Miller)

Deanna Ballinger Miller – died in Searchlight on February 4, 2021.  She was born in Las Vegas.  Deanna worked as a Clark County employee for 25 years, 23 years at the right hand of Judge James Bixler in Clark County District Court.  After retiring, she and her husband Ed maintained homes in Manhattan, NV and in Searchlight, NV.  In Manhattan, she was Chair of the Manhattan Town Advisory Board.  She and Ed were both certified EMS First Responders and members of the Manhattan Rescue Team and also active Fire Fighters with the Manhattan Volunteer Fire Department.  Deanna was a licensed driver for Engine 1.  They covered a large swath of Nye County.  After permanently moving to Searchlight, and loving being a desert rat, Deanna became the President of the Searchlight Museum Guild for several years.  While a teenager, Deana learned Pig Latin fluently and spoke it frequently with her friends.  Her young cousins were awed by her mastery of a “foreign language”.  She will always be remembered fondly by her family and many cousins, including Senator Harry Reid.  She and Ed were married for 30 years and had four children.  She is survived by two daughters.  She had 2 granddaughters and 3 grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.  Her favorite memories at LVHS include running around with a special group of friends and having a ball doing it.  Condolences may be sent to her family at P.O.
