Dennis Cohen

 

  

Dennis Cohen was born in Los Angeles, California, on March 20, 1950.  He attended Las Vegas High School where he was a Junior Senator and member of National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, Chess Club, and Bowling.  He graduated from UCLA and then went on to earn his Master’s.  He moved to Sunnyvale, California. Dennis started developing software with the Jet Propulsion Lab’s Deep Space Network in the 1970s.  He wrote and edited technology books and magazine articles since the late 1970s. He was author, coauthor, or contributing author of more than 30 books (many for Claris and Apple) and the editor of more than 300 technology titles.  He also taught mathematics, helped run a restaurant, and was a dealer in the 1972 World Series of Poker.  He was a master bridge player and won awards for skeet shooting.  He married his wife Kathy in 2009 and they moved to Spokane, Washington.  She had been his next door neighbor for 20 years and was loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He died in his sleep on March 11, 2014, and had a traditional orthodox burial in the Bikur Cholim Cemetery in Seattle.
