Obituary

With a heartfelt tribute, we celebrate the life of Brunetta Two Lenz, who was called home on July 6, 2023, at the age of 73. Brunetta Two, affectionately known as Two, was born on January 22, 1950, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Brunetta Mae Kells and David Gross. Raised by her mother and loving stepfather, Richard L. Lenz Sr., Two's life was enriched with the arrival of her brother, Richard L. Lenz Jr., whom she cared for in their early years. From an early age, she exhibited a resilient spirit and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, traits that would shape her into the remarkable woman we remember today.

Two's life was a testament to her strength and determination. A proud alumna of Las Vegas High School, Two furthered her education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, before bravely serving her country in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974. Her academic journey did not end there, however, as she went on to earn a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Utah. Two's love for the written word culminated in her authoring a book, "Walking through Walls," a poignant account of her battle with bipolar disorder that began in her youth. Her experiences fueled her advocacy for mental health, contributing to her lifelong membership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and her passionate lectures on mental health.

A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Two's faith was an integral part of her life, and she embraced her brothers and sisters from the various wards she belonged to throughout her journey. Two is survived by her brother, Richard Lenz Jr. and sister-in-law Tamara, cousin Lavada Santavicca, niece Brittany Lenz, nephew Brady Lenz, and cherished grand-nieces and nephews Brooklyn, Memphis, London, Havana, Chloe, and Heidi. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard Lenz Sr. and Brunetta Kells.

As we remember Two, we call to mind the scripture from Psalms 34:18, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." This verse encapsulates the essence of Two's life – her spirit, though tested, remained unbroken, and her heart, though burdened, remained filled with love for those around her.

A graveside service to honor Two's life will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. MDT at Myers Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.

We invite you to leave memories and upload photos of Two to the memorial page, to help us celebrate the remarkable life she led, the battles she fought, and the love she gave so freely.

Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside. Two's service will be livestreamed to her obituary page on www.myers-mortuary.com.
