Damn, and we had Mike Martin, AKA The Burger King for our VP at county.... :(

Damn that's GOT to be PD's son on the far left! Looks just like Coach Dorsey.

(L-R): The late Pat Dorsey represented by widow Vicki Dorsey Holstead and sons Tyler and T.J -

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University Athletic Hall of Fame inducted five new members this fall when the annual induction banquet takes place on Friday, September 29, 2006 as part of Hall of Fame Weekend.

The late Dorsey was a four-year standout on the Ram football and men's tennis teams. A ball-hawking defensive back, Dorsey led the Ram football team with seven interceptions in 1975 and added five more in 1976. His 12 career interceptions rank him among the all-time leaders at Shepherd. He gained All-Conference honors in men's tennis as he posted a 10-2 mark and captured the WVIAC individual singles title at number six in 1977. His win helped Shepherd to the conference crown and a trip to the NAIA Championships in Kansas City. Dorsey went on to a successful career as a teacher and coach at Loudoun County High School from 1978-1990 that included stints as the head coach of both the football and baseball teams at Loudoun County. He retired in 1990 to open his own painting business. Dorsey passed away at age 39 in 1994 after a courageous fight against leukemia.

I called Mr. Martin "Burger King" and he just about lost his mind. Ahhhhh. The memories of our youth.

hey molly my mom still talks about you putting your number in my lunchbox in 2nd grade. i think it was 2nd grade when ms. gaskill sent a note home to my parents for me grabbing your ass. janie, 7 grade ? i was clueless then, and clueless now.

janie, it was great untill the fuel prices jumped through the roof.

Yeah, I was 'dating' Patti Tate in 8th grade - and my god I was clueless then.

Only marginally better now, of course.

Well Walt, we've all seen what you looked like in 8th grade (see my profile) - Patti was one lucky girl. Not to be outdone, in 7th grade Lara Martin and I had a scorching hot affair (translation: a couple of kisses in Monica Laude's basement).

Fortunately, I'm no longer that clueless now. On our wedding night, my wife and I totally did it. I'm not bragging, I'm just saying.

>>Did anyone else have a "teacher crush?" <<

I had a huge crush on Mr. Ray in 5th grade. He'd let us play records for the last 5 minutes of class, so I checked out Donna Summer's "Bad Girls" from the Thomas Balch Library, so I could impress him because I heard him say he liked Donna Summer! Well, I think he liked me, but it never got me any dates or anything.

Does anyone remember Elizabeth Hawkins calling him a bigot in class?

I vaguely recall Ms. Levesque being attractive at Simpson.

And Mrs. Urbani? The Gym teacher . . .

Anyone remember all the boys hanging out of the windows over the smoking court, trying to see into the girls locker room in the summers?

I want to thank all of you for your generous offers of baby items, clothing, etc. Unfortunately, I can't use them all right now because in 24 hours, I have successfully outfitted our client with all her furniture needs, clothes, bedding, etc. If anyone still wishes to donate cribs, beds, etc., please let me know, because there is usually a long list of people in need of cribs/beds.

Also, if anyone still wishes to donate something to our client, she could use size 2-3 diapers, hypoallergenic wipes, and Similac Advance formula for her baby or gift cards to a Safeway grocery store (she is within walking distance of one).

She did get a job today, so hopefully she is on her way to a brighter future!

We have another family still in need of a couch, if anyone knows of someone near Ashburn/Leesburg that might have a decent one available.

I won't post like this again, so if anyone is interested in the future in donating items, you can e-mail me privately. Thanks to you all! I think we have a new slogan: 88 Donates Great!

Karen - I remember that incident with Elizabeth and Mr. Raye! It's always nice to have that kind of tension in a fifth grade class!! That was a fun grade, good group of people(I think that's one of the class photos I posted).

06/05/08 09:23 AM #421

Chris Wallace

Mr. Raye was definitely one cool dude. He and I would always talk some fake language to each other (seemed funny then). Remember dodgeball before our classes started? If we were all pretty good sitting outside our classrooms, then we could play. Ah...good ol' Catoctin days....

Okay Brendhan and Tom....Game 1 tonight!! What's your prediction?

06/05/08 09:31 AM #422

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Carey, I'm really glad you were able to help that girl out and really glad this board could help.

BUT, I'm a little worried about what that says about the LCHS Class of 88. I mean, based on the anecdotes in our profiles we were hard charging partiers that have now turned into a bunch of do gooders who find charity more fullfilling than shotgunning beers...WTF?!?

I think I may have to redeem us by getting obliterated at the reunion and performing a bare-ass-tripod on the bar. Don't worry, I'll do it at Shenanigan's, I wouldn't consider doing it at the family picnic. I don't want to traumatize anyone's kids and force their parents to have to pay for years of therapy. :-)

Wally, hmmm I don't know. I think it will be a good series. If the Laker's can take one of the first two games it will be very bad news for the Celtics. The key is Ray Allen. Which Ray Allen shows up? If it's the one from the first 2 1/2 rounds of the playoffs, the Lakers will win. If it's the one that showed up for the last 1/2 of the Detroit series, it will be hard to beat the Celtics. :-)

Tom Tyler

I remember John Fleming beating the crap out of Bruce outside of Mr. Ray's classroom. Remeber the battles between Mr. Ray's and Mrs. Mill's classes during field day. Kickball and tug of war. We ( Mrs. Mills ) had the better atheletes.

That PD family pic was from the night he was inducted into the SHepherd Univ Hall of Fame. I wrote one of the letters nominating him. I was their that night along with Jay Frye, Tom Tyler etc etc. Those are both of his sons flanking Vicki. TJ and Tyler. TJ played college hoops and TYler is a school teacher like his Pop.

Carey I will see what I can find for the 5 month old.

Man, that makes me feel old. I remember PD's kids running around LCHS when we were there for sports practices after school. Sounds like PD has two sons to be proud of. :-)

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Tommmy T and Wally, here is a GREAT clip from back when the Celtics and Lakers had a real rivalry. There was no kissing each other before or after games back then!

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

Hey everyone! So here's the deal - the Planning Committee worked very hard to come up with a plan for the reunion that everyone would be happy with. We have the Friday night drink-fest at Shenanigans followed by the more low-key family picnic at Tarara. Tickets would be one price for both days.

Unfortunately, I have heard from several people who can make it to Shenanigans on Friday but not to the picnic on Saturday. Instead of a) forcing those people to pay for two events when they can only attend one; and b) potentially losing that person completely...we've decided to possibly cancel the picnic on Saturday. This will lower the ticket price to approx $35 per person for one event on Friday night at Shenanigans.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. You can either respond to the whole board or email me privately at wendy@bluecrabreunions.com.

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Hope no one got blown away by the storms yesterday! I've lived in NoVA almost my entire life and I've never seen anything like it!

06/05/08 10:55 AM #428

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

I'm coming back to town for the weekend with my family. If we have one event I'll be there, if we have two events, I'll be at both. I'll be bringing my wife to the Friday event and both my wife and daughter to the Saturday event, if we have it.

06/05/08 11:07 AM #429

Walter Yarbrough

If we have two events I'm bringing the kids.

If we have one, might just be me making the flight.

Either way, I haven't signed up or paid yet, so weight my opinion accordingly.

Michelle Stocks (McKinstry)

Wendy,

I can only make it to the family picnic but plan according to the majority.

06/05/08 02:05 PM #431

Brian Cross

Wendy,

I had been planning to come alone on Friday night, and bring my wife and daughter on Saturday. If we only do Friday night, we'll probably get a sitter and my wife and I will come to Shenanigans.

I was originally thinking that Friday might be kind of loud and Saturday we could spread out and talk to more people, but I understand that if more people would attend if it was just Friday, then higher attendance should be the driving factor.

If you do decide on doing just Friday night, those of us that still wanted to get together with our families on Saturday could probably also plan to do some informal things if we wanted to. Either way works for me.

06/05/08 03:21 PM #432

Chris Wallace

In all likelihood I'll be at both events. We're still up in the air, but leaning towards both. Of course, if Friday is going to be like I THINK it is, I could be one hurtin' puppy Saturday!

I agree with you on the series. The Celtics are more "battle tested", if you will, coming into this. The Lakers have looked relatively impressive during the playoffs, and Phil Jackson finds ways to win when it counts. If we can take 1 in Boston, it would be huge.

06/05/08 03:37 PM #433

Janie Hott (Kintz)

I agree with Chris. Saturday is going to be a hungover event. If its hot as hell and Im hungover, the last place I want to be is in the blasting sun. However... I have plans on attending both. If we only have one event - I vote the bar, getting buck wild and a party that follows into the night!
