Carey Blair (Albrecht)

I vote for both events. My family was planning on coming to Sat. as well as my husband and I on Friday. I agree with Brian, that we might be able to talk more on Saturday. And, it sure would be fun to see what everyone's kids look like! A lot of 'minnie me's', I think.

Walter Yarbrough

Wendy, is it feasible to separate the events into two tickets?

06/05/08 05:18 PM #436

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

We need 100 people to buy a two-day event ticket to make Tarara work. The majority of people who have emailed me have asked for a one-day ticket only for Friday night.

What I could do is organize a picnic at one of the parks in Loudoun County. It's free. The only drawback would be that no alcohol could be consumed on the premises. To avoid adding additional costs to the ticket, it could be a BYOM (bring your own meat) cookout.

I'm just brainstorming right now trying to figure out possibilities.

Nod - Ida Lee or something

I say we all just head to Wallaces house around noon on Saturday.

Tell Fred and Karen to fire up the grill.

I think I have a good solution. Let me make some calls tomorrow morning and I'll get back to you all. :)

I'm planning on making Friday and Saturday was up in the air for me. I was planning on paying for the ticket anyway that way the option is there, if I decide.

I dont speak for everyone but the alcohol on picnic day is probably not all that imperative. a) most will get their fill of that on Friday night, I would think and b) I have no issue with removing alcohol from the family day altogether. To me, thats more of a day to socialize and see our kids play with one another. I mean, we're all adults here, I'm sure no one *plans* to get wasted on picnic day but you know...cold brews, hot sun, things happen.

But it sounds like you have something in the works, so I'll wait to see what you come up with.

is anyone else having problems w/ this site moving SLOW? Walt, Brian, anyone else? I'm not a computer guy and everything else on my computer is acting normal

I was planning to attend both days. I haven't purchased ticket(s) yet, becuase I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to bring a date.

I'm down for whatever.

"Walter Yarbrough

I vaguely recall Ms. Levesque being attractive at Simpson.

And Mrs. Urbani? The Gym teacher . . ."

Walt, that was my Aunt, Mrs. Urban, I'll be sure and tell her she was the teacher in your schoolboy student/teacher fantasy. ;-)

Chris C, I notice it running slow at night sometimes, but it's usually ok in the day.

Heh, I never knew that, Brendan. I don't think I ever had a crush or a real fantasy about a teacher, though. Of course, Debra La Fave wasn't at County.

It's depressing to see everyone talking about the reunion. I wish we could come, but I remember the 1st month with a newborn...and I know there's really not a chance.

Regarding the "do-gooders" comment Brendhan, helping people has its rewards...BUT, it has made me cynical too. Too often, I find that people will take as much as you will give, yet they won't do a damn thing to help themselves. (of course this is a generalization)

E.g. "what can you give me to help me lose weight?"
"I can't afford the medication to help me quit smoking" What the hell? Cigarettes are like $5 a pack aren't they?

But, the good outweighs the bad. I do love my job.

My school teacher crush would have had to have been Ms Gerard, 7th grade Math.

She really liked to hike those pants up!

I think that was the only class I ever voluntarily sat in the front center row.

and with that, I present a song/video for the fellas: (NSFW)

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Mr. Harrell (history?) aka Sting. I remember quite a few gals swooning in his class.

Molly, I agree that some definitely take advantage. But for every one of those people I've come across, I've come across one who really needs the help and is so grateful. Unfortunately, sometimes it is hard to tell what type of person someone is until it is too late. But...on a positive note, our kids witness us doing these things and hopefully grow up and "paying it forward" like Brendhan said to me.

Thank you so much for your hard work - the changes to the reunion sound GREAT!! Everyone should be able to be a part of the weekend.

Thanks again to you and the reunion committee!

From Matt Hockenberry (class of '89):

Ran across this site. Just dropping in to give my hellos to all that I knew and had fun times with at JLSMS and LCHS . I Hope to come in contact with anyone that would like to drop me a line or too. Best of Luck to all.

(if anyone would like to email him, let me know and I'll give you his email address - Wendy)

How was the weekend all? I caught a fish that was this big . . . . In reality, a largemouth bass that was elbow to end of pinkie finger on my left arm (the only measuring stick I had available) And I chased 3 packs of teenagers off my lawn . . . cough . . . off my rope swing/beach.

I took the kids to the Fairfax Festival. What an awesome festival that is, first time going for me. They had roller coasters and all.

HOT AS HELL but fun.

In retrospect, Kings Dominion would have been cheaper. The part that pissed me off the most, is you go and pay for a bundle of tickets to ride the rides and THEN when you get to the *kids area* they sell SEPERATE tickets!!
What the hell is that crap? Of course I opted for the bracelet cause it was a better bargain, but that bracelet wasn't good for the rest of the festival.

I'm quitting my job and I'm going to be a festival planner/organizer.

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

Keith - I feel your pain. I gave my daughter $40 to go with a friend. She came home with $0. She said every ticket cost $1 and each ride took 4-5 tickets. If she's telling me the truth (cause she might have just spent it all on cotton candy and Coke!), that's ridiculous!

Chris Wallace

Was in Blacksburg at your alma mater this weekend, Walt. Diana was a bridesmaid in a wedding there, while Errett served as a ringbearer for the first time. I was pretty nervous about how he'd handle it, but he did great. Definitely the hit of the wedding according to everyone who attended.

But we partied up at Top of the Stairs, had breakfast at Gillie's and Mill Mtn. Coffee. Got to see the Memorial as well, which was very sobering. I can't believe that dude walked all the way across the drill field after the first shooting and went on that killing spree. Unreal.

Brendhan/Tom: Well, my Lakers ALMOST made a monumental comeback last night! Of course I turned it off when they were down 22! Even though they've been strong at home, I can't see the Lakers taking this series back to Boston. The Celtics are just a bigger, more physical team.

Keith, you know there's always a scam man! My dad has been on me for years to come up w/ some gizmo to sell and get rich quick. just not me man, even though I do wish I'd been responsible for the singing billy big-mouth bass!

06/09/08 02:58 PM #456

Walter Yarbrough

I haven't been down there in years, Chris. Every time I go, I'm amazed at the changes to the town and the campus.

06/09/08 03:13 PM #457

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Chris, you know the saying, it's not really a series until the home team loses....I'm not raising number 17 just yet.

I spent the weekend at the pool with my girls. Firday after school for the girls and work for me we went to the pool. Saturday, all day we went to the pool. Get this... Sunday we pack up and go to the pool and we are there for 20 minutes and its about 99 degrees outside and an announcement comes over the speakers that the pool is closing. Im thinking "What the fuck"??? Turns out some kid shit in the deep end. I was so pissed!!!
