Molly,
The guys name is Collin Cowherd. He is on ESPN radio from 10:00 am to 1:00 Mon - Fri. I listen to him everyday. I heard him rip UVA football that day. I laughed my ass off. He has some strange opinions and he is sometimes off the wall. He reminds me a lot of Brendhan. He likes to think his opinion is the only one that matters and is never wrong about anything. Hell, he might be Brendhan.

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Thanks Wendy and Tom. I love the part where the UVA guy says "I'd rather be soft than a redneck from Virginia Tech," and Collin says "I wouldn't, I'd rather win football games." He's funny...but I'm sure UVA fans don't think so.

The people on the Tech message board call UVA "France." That cracks me up too.

I f#$kin hate Colin Cowherd....no I'm not joking.

Oh and Tom, being right all the time is not all it's cracked up to be...I ought to know! ;-)

Did everyone start the holiday early? Looks like it's been quiet on here for a few days. Where's the entertainment?

Brendhan's at one of those "conventions" he goes to...

Hi all who still live in or around Leesburg - -

I live in Atlanta but I always read the Loudoun Times Mirror and I just read this article and I am pretty sure this is Jason Goodman's home that burned down. The address matches the one on his profile on here and it says they have 3 boys - which he does.

Sorry for starting rumors if I'm wrong but I figured some in the area may want to help in this effort with donations or whatever. Sounds like they lost everything.

(I don't know how to embed a link so you'll have to cut and paste - sorry).

Carey Blair (Albrecht)

This was Jason's house. I checked the address in the article with his profile. I would be willing to organize an effort to help his family, so if anyone has contact information for their family, I would like to make contact and see what needs to be done.

Please send me a message asap. I can usually pull together a lot of donations in a short amount of time, so if anyone wants to help, just let me know. I would be happy to coordinate everything.

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

This message was just sent to everyone via this website.

Class of '88,

Jason Goodman and his family have been left homeless after their home was completely destroyed in a fire on 28 June. Jason and his wife have three sons, Austin (11), Jake (8) and John (3). If you would like to make a donation to help Jason and his family, please send it the address below by 26 July. Checks should be made out to Jason Goodman. Once we've collected all donations, they will be presented to Jason and his wife.

Mail checks to:

Wendy Huybrechts

PO Box 710413 (or the address given in the original email)

Oak Hill, VA 20171

Thanks everyone. I know Jason and his family will be extremely grateful for the help. They've lost absolutely everything in their home.

Wendy

Hello Everyone,

I spoke with Jason Goodman today, and he said everyone is doing OK. He asked to please not call him right now, as they are going through a very busy time getting everything situated. He will be in touch when things calm down.

His wife is going to contact me to let me know if there's anything they need right now, so I will post a message here once I get that info. (Obviously, the financial contributions through Wendy will also be greatly appreciated.)

He is very appreciative of everyone's concern and looks forward to seeing you all at the reunion.

Michelle Stocks (McKinstry)

I am thankful every day that my kids are healthy and my family has a roof over our heads and food on our plates. To hear that a family has lost everything breaks my heart and then to know them makes me even more upset.

Carey,
Thanks so much for touching base with Jason. Please let me know as soon as you hear about their needs. I am sure I have some things I can donate to them.

Wendy,
I will put a check in the mail to you on Monday.

It looks like this reunion is happening at the right time. So far the LCHS Class of 88 has been able to help 2 families in need. How great is that!!

I'd just like to encourage everyone to give something, if even if it's only $20....I'm sure at this point every single dollar will be useful to Jason.

To compliment Michelle's comment, think about how precious it is to have a home, a bed. Your home is your safe haven....I can't imagine that being gone in an instant like it was for Jason and his family. Let's pull together to help one of our own!

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Wow, I'm so glad Jason and his family are okay. That's what really matters. Stuff can be replaced. Of course, I will send a donation. Thanks for the info Wendy.

I hope you don't think I'm callous for changing the subject, but I had to post this ridiculous dream I had the other night...

I dreamed the baby was born and he looked EXACTLY like Joe Mullins (full head of hair and goatee), and he could talk. I was so upset and I did not want to take him home...needless to say, my husband was pissed. No offense Joe. You know I have always found you adorable.

Thanks for finding and posting the link.

07/08/08 10:49 AM #572

Joe Mullins

Okay, Molly I created an image of what your "Nightmare baby" probably looked like ... I think he's pretty cute but I may be biased!! ; )

I'm not savvy enough to get it pasted here so you'll have to go check it out in my profile.

Chris Wallace

Hey all, I just got off the phone with Jason Goodman. Everyone's doing okay, and he wanted me to tell all of you that he appreciates the thoughts/prayers/concerns. I'm definitely going to send a donation, and encourage everyone else to do the same, even if it's just a minimal amount. They lost EVERYTHING, but thankfully they're living in a rental that is roughly the same size as their home that was destroyed. He feels very blessed that the family is okay, and is deeply touched by the outpouring of support from friends and neighbors. His insurance company has been phenomenal supposedly, so again, he feels more blessed than anything else. Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks.

Janie Hott (Kintz)

Thanks for the update Chris. He and his family sure have been in my prayers.

As far as you JOE Mullins... that baby picture you created from Molly's dream is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.

Molly, aren't you due any day now? If not, when is your due date?

07/08/08 01:06 PM #575

Jeremy Dold

Just found out that the Red Rocks swim team will be donating a portion of their concession donations. The Broadlands/Ashburn is taking donations at swim practices to give to the Red Rocks team tomorrow. Cheers.

07/08/08 02:01 PM #576

Molly Hardison (Rutherford)

Joe, that's exactly what he looked like!! That is hilarious. I can't wait to show Chris. Thanks.

Janie, I'm due July 30th. Planning to work through the 25th, so we will see what happens. I feel good. But, it's looking less and less likely that I will make it to the reunion. Bummer.

Carey Blair (Albrecht)

Joe, that's just weird.

Everyone,
To follow is a list of things the Goodman's could use. Laura is going to e-mail me with anything else they might think of, so check back, I might have more to add. My community is also busy gathering up some things. Please e-mail me with what you wish to donate, so we don't duplicate stuff. Laura said we could drop things off at their house in the garage. I will give you their address once I get it from her.

Thanks! (Here's the list...)

***If anyone knows of any local business/restaurants that would be willing to donate in a larger/other capacity, PLEASE contact me.***

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not donate broken or junky things, things with missing pieces, stained clothes, etc. We want to provide them with items that you would use in your own home. Please only donate new things or ones that are in great shape.

I am going to break the list into categories. That being said, here it goes:

Socks (athletic crew, maybe for a size 10 or so shoe)
Sleep shorts/sleep t-shirts - Sz LG

MOM
Pajamas - shorts/cami sets, Sz SM
Jeans - (she said she just bought some at Nordstrom Rack for about $12 before the fire, she is sz. 6, inseam 34); maybe a gift card for this so she can try on and pick out her own
Tank tops - sz. SM (brown, pink, neutral colors)

11 YEAR OLD

Needs fall clothes for back to school
Underwear
Couple pairs of shorts/cool t-shirts
Gift card to Adidas outlet or sporting store so they can buy shoes
Socks (size 6 shoe)

8 YEAR OLD
Sz. 10-12

Underwear
Couple pairs of shorts/cool t-shirts
Socks (size 6 shoe)
Gift card to Adidas outlet or sporting store so they can buy shoes

3 YEAR OLD

Sports equipment
Age appropriate games (no lost pieces, please)
Age appropriate books
Toys
Arts and Crafts stuff (Crayola Magic stuff would be great for 3 year old, he likes to paint and color)
I will add to this list once I learn more about what they like.

I will not be able to accept everything from everyone as I know I will get duplicate offers from people, so please bear with me as I sort through things as they come in. It is tricky to manage the flow of donations, but I will do the best I can. Thanks in advance to you all for your generosity! (By the time you read this, some things may have already been donated, so please check with me before you drop anything off at their house. I don't want to bother them with extra stuff they don't need.)

Again, gift cards are great (Target, Giant, Harris Teeter, Kohls, Wal Mart, etc.)

If you have any questions about other items you may have to donate, just send me a message.

Blessings to you all,
Carey

Joe - Your baby has no "gender". Are you illustrating that if you and Molly had a baby it would be sexless?

Hey... any of you guys hear that song by Kid Rock "All Summer Long"? It's a great song.

Janie

Funny you mentioned that song - I heard it about 4 times today - I really liked it and so did my oldest - he wanted me to keep playng it - he thinks everything has DVR - I was surprised when I heard that it was Kid Rock - never would've guessed that.

Anne - That adorable "Joe baby" has his equipment tucked away in a fat roll.

We are planning to make a donation to the Goldman family on behalf of the Class of 88. These donations I am sure will be gladly received by the Goldman family. I would like to extend complimentary tickets to the 20 year reunion on behalf of the class of 88 to Jason and his wife from all of us.

The messages that are still arriving and have come are heartfelt and truly dear to everyone that can look at this and reveiw whats important in life; our health, a roof over top and knowing your community, family and freinds are there when you need them. Keep the messages coming, I think the Goldman family will very much appreciate them over the next several months.

keep the donations coming! Love Heather
