Yeah, kinda does.

Becky-
Dylan plays lacrosse. He loves it. He also plays basketball. His love is skateboarding. I'm just waiting for the day he breaks a bone.

I remember Ginos. Monica Laude's dad was the manager. Leesburg was so small then. My daughter has 680 kids in her class. It's unbelivable how big this county is and Loudoun County is still growing.

680 in her class at what school?

i think it was just a courtesy for those of us who are computer and acronymically challenged.

Becky, i forgot about blinding people, i was just worried about scaring them.

Billie, i'm right w/ u on that kid pet peeve thing. people have always told me i'm to hard on mine, but all i've got to do is give the look and use the voice. my mom's been teaching for 35 years. i swear she's going for sainthood. i would've been put in jail a long time ago. i almost did at a restaurant one night when i asked a couple to please pick their kid up off the floor and handle it or i would. i know kids (hell, we all do) have their moments, but it was REAL BAD and it was affecting a couple hundred people.

everyone talking about Leesburg, i haven't lived there since'96, but even then it was just feeling squeezed and overcrowded, it's just gotten worse. that's every urban area i encounter. each time i go thru NYC i wonder if us humans will ever learn

Sherry,
My son plays lacrosse too. It's actually replaced football with him. It's a cool game to watch.

Chris,
Feel free to come naked, I'm just saying I don't want that on my shoulders. And Leesburg it nuts! Traffic is brutal anytime of day. People have gotten rude! It's really nothing like what it was back in the day.

there are still a lot of us who live in this area from our class. i have seen many of you who are still here in various places around town. it's always nice to chat and say hi. but it amazes me how many unfamiliar faces we see in leesburg anymore. i remember back in the 80's how small this town was. everyone knew everyone! it's almost a tourist area now just because of the new stores and the outlet mall, and it's pretty sad. the traffic is horrible and it seems people here are constantly angry.

What freaks me out is when I get lost in Leesburg! I was home once visiting my parents and went out for an early morning run with no intended path. After about 30 min I realized I didn't recognize where I was, so I just kept running until I found something familiar. Turned into a damn long run... and a bit depressing, really.

As for high school sizes, here in Orange County schools are HUGE!! I was talking to some moms about it the other day. High schools with 4000 kids. Not joking. People laugh at the number of people I tell them I graduated with from LCHS. What did we have - @250? They think it is "charming."

Too many people in the world. I live in Vienna now, not a metropolis by any means but also not the small leesburg town we all knew.

Anyway, so the park that is a block away from my house; the same park I take my kids to, had a gang fight about 2-3 weeks ago. Ended with a few kids getting stabbed. This is no ghetto, this is a middle to upper income neighborhood. WTF!?!? is there any place on earth free from this crap?

I remember a few fights back in school, I think the worst of it was someone getting cracked over the head with a bottle....mostly it was all fists though. Nowaday's kids are stabbing and shooting each other.

Some days I'm scared to see my kids grow up in it.

I love knife fights, guns are soooo impersonal....STICK AND STAB STICK AND STAB STICK STICK STICK STICK STICK STICK STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STICK and STAB!

Lee, are knife fights still your favorite EMT calls?

"STICK AND STAB STICK AND STAB STICK STICK STICK STICK STICK STICK STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STAB STICK and STAB!"

Bit disturbing. Someone strip search Brendhan before he's allowed in to the reunion.

Wait...he'd probably like that.

(thats a smiley face without a wink)

We won't have to strip search him if we have the naked theme...

Ginos - aw sweet gino's memories... When I was very little I used to go there every Friday night with my dad for a Roast Beef sandwich, Birch Beer and coleslaw . He made me eat the coleslaw before I was allowed to touch my Birch Beer or my sandwich. It was the only way he could get me to eat vegetables. (I still think it was cruel and vegetables are overrated.)

Then I worked with Brady at Jerry's... So weird. I saw "Lloyd Boyd" in Kristin's post and wondered howI knew that name. Now I remember! (Yes, the memories are slowly returning) I completely forgot about that guy. And Pat Dunnigan? Forgot about him too. Thanks for the memories, Brady. We had some good times at Jerry's...

BTW: Is there such a thing as Birch Beer anymore?

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

Birch Beer ROCKS!

Billie Kirk (Munday)

You can still get Birch Beer at Roy Rogers...My kids love it!

07/25/08 09:03 PM #774

Anne Tiller

That's good to know. I don't think the West Coast ever had Birch Beer. They probably called it Birch Pop anyway.

Janie Hott (Kintz)

Hey... The Jerry's subs in Chantilly was a pretty cool place to work too. My brother, Jamie, myself and Sean Jackson work there. I think others from HS worked there, but I can't remember. It was fun.

07/26/08 10:39 AM #776

Jumana Zarou (Azar)

Birch beer is great!! I would always order it from Roy's with an egg and cheese crescent and breakfast fries before work , (it helped with my hangovers).

It was great seeing Billy Skaggs and Jeff Finn at Shenanigan's on Friday. Billy have you decided if you can make it back here for the reunion? There was a good crowd there from Loudoun that night.(not neccessarily grad. of 88)but 87, and 89.

I'm also up to keeping this forum going after the Reunion. Wendy you said it was possible? Let us know.

Wendy, what teacher's are coming? Or is it supposed to be a big surprise.??? Can't wait!!

Brendhan loved the video. Way too funny.

07/26/08 02:09 PM #777

Kristin Cunningham

Jumana,
I'm with you. What teachers will be there?! Tell us, Wendy:)

07/26/08 04:15 PM #778

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

Not sure. We sent out a bunch of invites and I'm waiting to hear back. Mr. Harrell said he *may* make it. Mr. Shultz can't come - it's his anniversary. But there are five or six others who haven't RSVP'd yet.

Wendy,
Did you try to contact Mr. Hansbarger? I know he was living in the Purcellville area 4 or 5 years ago. He would definitely be fun to party with at the reunion. I remember we finished our exam early and he played his guitar and sang to the class for the remaining time. He was definitely one of the coolest teachers at LC. Hell, he let me use his car to take my driving test.

07/26/08 09:37 PM #780

Billie Kirk (Munday)

Mr. Hansbarger was such an amazing teacher! He is one of those teachers that really made you love to learn. I wish there were more teachers like him in schools now. My son is a senior at Valley and never really had that one teacher that made all the difference. Its all about the SOL's now...it really sucks. Even the elementary schools have to focus so much on the SOL's that there isnt a whole lot of room for all the fun stuff we did in school. Anyone out there teaching now that can offer some insight?

07/26/08 10:06 PM #781

Jumana Zarou (Azar)

I also agree, Mr. Hansbarger was a wonderful teacher. He taught all the Zarou kids. Remember Mr. Bosley at JLS middle school? He's one I'll never forget ,just made an impression on me for some reason. But yeah, how cool if some of the teachers show up. Is Mr. Leach still alive? What a nice man.

07/26/08 11:13 PM #782

Wendy Cubbison (Huybrechts)

George? Is that you? ;-)

We can definitely invite Mr. Hansbarger. I'll try to locate him tomorrow and mail an invitation.

Ashley Nalls (DiLorenzo)

I loved Mr. Hansbarger. What about 'Pappy' Parker? Is he still around? He was fun too and, I thought, a great teacher. What was the funny lady's name who taught geometry? She always had her skirt on sideways and chalk on her butt. She was a hoot.
