Seriously I just remember his name because he and I basically sat in the back of Senor Wright's spanish class and failed Spanish I together when I was a freshman and he was a junior. My excuse for failing was I came in 6 weeks after school started and was lost. I don't know what his excuse was. It just seemed so funny to me that a guy named Jose De La Vega would fail Spanish I. He was a good guy and a hell of a tennis player...he didn't have any great shots, but he returned EVERYTHING. Very sad about the way he died.
My 'rents still eat b-fast at the Leesburg Restaurant every Saturday that they are in town, which is not that often these days, but it does happen.
How do you people remember all these teachers? I have no idea who you're talking about. The only one I remember is Ms. Perry, my Study Hall teacher. But that's because she always let me out to go to the "girls bathroom" or "get something out of my car".
Molly, congrats on your new little Hokie, Raleigh Glennon Taylor Randall Druckenmiller Noel Clark DeShazo Furrer Rutherford. (I intentionally left out the names that start with "V").
Brendhan, did you say that Jose De La Vega died?!?! Really?? He was a great tennis player. He basically walked onto the team and was 2nd seed immediately.
Molly, it looks like Teddy's going to enjoy being an older brothher. the boys and I went to the beach saturday afternoon and sunday at Oregon Inlet and karaoked w/ alanrossobx.com. he's a personal friend who runs between 15-20 shows this time of year. i know a lot of you get down that way. it's always a good time.
Kristin, it'll probably be in Leesburg that weekend. unfortunately, it won't be my $300,000 chicken haulin' rooster cruisin' large car! sorry, that's trucker talk. i always laugh as I type, because most of u'all are sitting at a desk as u type, but my laptop is mounted to my dash just like a cops. i'm currently on I90 going by Albany headed to Syracuse. that's why i use all my strange shorthand
Chris - if you bring the big truck, you could just haul everyone home in the back after Shenanigans.
Ok - another pet peeve - politicians who call with the recorded messages. You pick up the phone and it's "Hi! This is so and so...." sounding all happy like their your best friend. If you want me to actually listen to you, and more importantly vote for you, call me yourself or at least have one of your reps call so I can actually discuss the issues. If I have to get my butt off the sofa and answer the phone, I want a real person on the other side! I had one of those calls last night and it just reminded me how irritating it is.
that's a good idea Amy. we'll kick the reefer (not that kind u'all!!) down to -20 and see how quick that sobers everyone up. there will be a fuel surcharge however.
Yes, I think Jose died about 15 years ago. I'm pretty sure it was while I was in college (I graduated in '93). The story I heard (and I can't remember who told it to me) was that his roomate got up one morning and saw him lying on the living room floor and thought he had just passed out there after coming home from a previous nights partying, so he left. When he got back later that day Jose was still in the same position. He checked him and he was dead. Evidently he tripped and hit his head on a coffee table. Anyway, that was the story I heard. :(
