Leah Miller, right?

Chris Wallace

Yeah, she looked good! Great pics, Brendhan!

Seeing that picture reminded me of the conversation I had with Leah. Went something like this (okay, I'm bored today!):

With the lady or the dog?

FYI - I created a group on Facebook. When this site goes away, everyone can still share.

Walter, I actually used that "I wanna be on you" line on Lee Presgrave (He has the cutest little red flattop) on Friday night, but he turned me down flat. Bastard!

LCHS class of 88 alumni is up on Facebook! Thanks Anne!

Brendan, I tried some grinding, myself, but didn't have any luck with Brady, I think (God was that some lousy scotch they had).

They had really crappy Bourbon too. Not that it didn't do the trick...

Skins got . . . pounded last night.

Glad I didn't make arrangements to see that (since it wasn't broadcast up here or anything)

Also glad that they got smacked around in a preseason game - give em some humility and something to work on.

hope everyone had good weekend. Stacey came down to Carolina (actually rode in the BIG truck for the first time!! woo hoo) and she and I and the kids hung w/ fiends, did Jockeys Ridge, karaoked and beached it. Walt, I was supposed to be up in Lawrence this morning, but they didn't have my melons ready last night, so maybe by lunch I'll be headed that way

It's getting kinda quiet on here. Anybody want to gripe about driving? I had to drive to Arlington, then Alexandria, yesterday. I don't know how some of you do that everyday. Not just the traffic, but are people from Maryland required to take an aggressive driving course or something? They are downright crazy! (Ok, I just needed to vent for a moment, but I'm done.)

Also, great pictures to everyone who's putting them up.

Hey Amy! It's Maryland drivers in minivans who are the worst --and the more bumper sticker/honor student stuff, the worse they are. That's just been my experience...

Come to south Florida in February and you'll see true traffic nightmares.

I use a 10 second rule at intersections. 10 seconds after the light turns green, I move. Otherwise some blue hair in a buick will T-bone the car.

Yeah, well wait until you drive a big yellow school bus. Why is it that everyone hates school buses or think they have to get in front of them? OMG... it's crazy - do these people not realize that we have your children on board??

Ha. Try dealing with Washington drivers. They stop when they have the right of way to say "no, you go". So considerate, yet so dangerous to those driving behind them... Also - Merge means Stop and wait to them.

Va and Md are easy compared to what we deal with here, much more my speed. Basically, you go nowhere in a reasonable period of time. I prefer the aggression to just plain not understanding the laws.

What a good time. I'm glad I got to see everyone. It seemed to short. I NEED TO KEEP IN TOUCH W/ A LOT OF YOU. I hope to talk to a lot of you before our next reunion. Thanks for all the great memories.

you all got to know i'm just sitting back dying laughing about the traffic thing!!! hahahahahahaha Janie and I probably share some of the same horror stories. I will never understand why someone would even consider squeezing something that weighs 3000lbs and is 15' long into a 20' gap between two vehicles totalling 160,000?! i always blame it on a lack of education and NO common sense. i've been keeping my own mental statistics over the years and the results are hilarious. if i ever start driving like some of these old folks, all of you have permission to shoot me.
Matt, great seeing you and Lori too. you should come join us all on facebook.

Traffic?? I forgot what that was since I moved to Richmond! Seriously, it's AWESOME down here. It's very rare if there's any sort of backup on the interstates, and usually that's because of an accident (which I just witnessed the other day right in front of me; a Yukon hit the median on 64 and rolled; thankfully the lady got out okay, but DAMN that was scary; I just prayed she didn't have kids in the car with her). Now, there are certain areas that have it, but it's nowhere CLOSE to NoVa. I really don't miss that part--AT ALL.

Chris W., I went to school in Richmond, and you're right, traffics not too bad.(Though there are a couple of neighborhoods I wouldn't want to break down in.) Brady, I've visited Florida a few times and I'll agree that they are a little scary down there.

Chris C. - What's up with truckers who tailgate someone going 80 miles an hour. I know they get frustrated, but shouldn't they be responsible enough to know they can't stop that quickly and if they would quit tailgating, the person would probably be polite and move over. I know it's bad, but if a trucker is driving rudely, I will stay in that lane forever and not let him pass. (I'm sure you hate people like me, but hopefully you don't tailgate in your big rig!)

Amy, i have UNFORTUNATELY done all kinds of things i regret in trucks. the problem is the interstate and a majority of highways were originally intended for the transportation of commerce and have ended up becoming a tool for everyone, which means we need to share. As you know in this day and age, it seems like it's always about just one person. I don't think that 4wheelers (truck drivers refer to people in cars as that) know how to read all the signs on the highway. AAA did a recent study and blamed 70% of accidents involving trucks and cars on the 4wheelers. on a six lane highway it is usually against the law for commercial vehicles exceeding 26,000 or so many axles to be in the left lane, therefore the middle lane is our HAMMER lane. if you watch the the patterns and flow on the highway from above, you'll see that it moves in waves and unfortunately the left lane is the leased used because 4wheelers are afraid to get out there because they know the POLICE are watching that lane the most. It will never cease to amaze me how someone can feel safe riding along in the middle lane doing 60 while traffic is flying by at 75-80. defensive driving is constantly being aware and working together. if i see someone coming up behind me, i get out of his way. it is not my job to tell him how to drive. slower cars are actually the most dangerous, because it effects everyone, where as fast ones have to slow down for themselves. it's always going to be about common sense, consideration, and communication (3 Cs Lee :) )i once tried to describe to my mom, a school teacher, what my job was comparable to hers. the only thing i could come up w/, was imagine the commotion and getting the kids back on track if a naked person ran through her room. there are so many variables to doing this job. shippers aren't accountable and receivers want the impossible, so it's left up to the drivers to handle all of that. then there's road conditions, weather, traffic ...we actually consider CONSTRUCTION a season out here. then there's the people putting on makeup, beating there children, having every form imagineable of sex, eating, talking on the phone and i will say after almost 4,000,000 miles, women are the worst about holding up the left lane and not understanding it's purpose, old men the middle lane, and 16-20somethings the scariest of all. since 9/11 the roads have gotten so crowded and urban planners and government have not done their fair share to maintain the upkeep, plus plan for growth. there are a few bad apples out here, too many actually nowadays, but there is also a breaking point which i've crossed the threshhold of several times over the years, but have gotten better w/. the east coast is the worst though. I've often wondered how many peoples paths i cross each day on the highway, at truckstops, shippers, receivers, etc.? it's got to be tens of thousands and that takes some adjusting to. it is not the same, safe, secure and comfortable environment that most people are used to. give the trucks the left lane, we'll make sure it doesn't rust, but then all the 4wheelers will want it. hahaha

Wow, Chris...I'm sure the first line of your last post got everyone's attention! I wondered how far down the gutter the conversation had floated since I last checked this message board! :)

Oh, I miss quirky Richmond! Rush hour last 30 Min. Not that I ever went anywhere in it. We lived in the city near Carytown, and I walked everywhere with the kids. I miss Carytown as well, and all the great local places to eat.

Richmonders have no clue how to handle 4 way stops. What a mess the Fan became when they put those in everywhere. Half the drivers don't see them, and the other half don't know when it is their turn to go.

Here is SoCal there are massive volumes of traffic at all times, but they generally move along well - until there is the inevitable accident. Then it is a parking lot. In general the drivers here are much more considerate than back east (4 way stops with multiple lanes in each direction are abundant here and run smoothly). Driving into LA is much easier then the drive up 95 from Richmond to DC.
