When you take her comments over the past year..

http://www.breitbart.tv/html/49244.html

and her writings as a younger woman,

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0208/8642.html

t's pretty clear she has a real chip on her shoulder.

Of course her becoming first lady will be proof that the chip on her shoulder is of her own creation as opposed to reality...kinda ironic.

We need to try and liven it up a little, cuz I think I'm the only one without Facebook. I still like this site to keep me entertained at work!

How about you Chris? Been anywhere interesting lately? Any good trucker stories.

Hey Amy.....so I have to ask....how was that party out at Dawn & Paul's? We popped out there for a very short while before it got rolling just to say hey (my family was doing a get togther that night, so I couldn't stay) But boy oh boy did it seem to have all the makings of one hell of a party. When I spoke to Paul briefly a few days later, he said he couldn't remember much (no surprise there w/ Paul)except for hurting his knee.

I remember you saying you were headed out there that day...did you make it, and if so, did you run into a bunch of Valley's '88 class?

Anyone going to the homecoming game tonight at County? Funny thing is my husband is a Broad Run 88 graduate!

Thanks for the failblog link, Brendhan. Very funny.

I needed another habit-forming site to go to every day. Walt's link a few weeks ago to http://www.fivethirtyeight.com has been addictive, along with

I know people don't like politics, but everyone should listen to this interview Obama gave in 2001. It shows his real self.

I'm good, keeping busy at work. Like I said, I know a lot of people are on facebook, but I'm not, so I still like to check this. I see there have been a few new profiles listed. How's everyone doing?

I've honestly jumped to facebook . . .

Come on Amy, setup a Facebook account. Everyone's doing it :). Seriously though, it's a really easy way to keep in touch with people without much effort at all.

Millard, I actually like political discussions, but it can get to be non-productive because many people have strongly held opposing views and they aren't going to agree. My 2 cents: I don't think the stories about Obama's past or distortions about his positions are really swaying many people who weren't already against him anyway. In particular, the "socialist" line of attack against Obama is ridiculous. By that logic, Reagan was a socialist, and everyone else who has supported our progressive tax system. The overwhelming majority of what government has always done is "wealth redistribution" - this isn't some radical new scheme from Obama, but it's portrayed that way to try to scare people into thinking Obama is extreme. I know more about Obama than I do about any previous candidate I can recall, and the more I learn about him and see how he thinks through issues, the more I like him. I'll take the elitist professor with the cool temperament, thoughtful decision-making, and first-rate intellect over the shoot-from-the-hip, hot-headed, divisive guy any day. And even aside from temperament and intellect, there isn't a single important issue, including foreign policy, where I would feel more comfortable with McCain in charge. I actually liked McCain eight years ago, but he lost me with his poor decisions of late, and Obama continues to earn more and more of my confidence.

I'm a moderate who has voted for candidates of both parties in the past, but choosing a side in this election is the easiest decision I've made in a long time.

A good informative video of what caused the economic crisis.

My Republican friend Scott summed it up very well here:

The country needs a change.

I really miss my lunchtime discussions with him.

And yes, I don't think independents are really going to be swayed by message boards - we're just going to bump heads.

I'd like to know when it became a bad thing to be elite?

Ok - I joined Facebook. But again, since I am pretty much computer illiterate, can anyone tell me if there is stuff on there that is NSFW? One of these days I'll buy my own computer, but for now I just have to make do.

Brendhan Pelot (Pelot)

A vote for either of the two major party candidate is not a vote for change, it's a vote for status quo. As long as you vote for a major party candidate you are endorsing politics as usual in this country, which is fine if that is ok with you, nothing wrong with that. But the people who think they are voting for change and are voting for either of the two "legitimate" candidates are fooling themselves IMHEO (In My Humble Elitist Opinon). :)
