Come on Amy, setup a Facebook account. Everyone's doing it :). Seriously though, it's a really easy way to keep in touch with people without much effort at all.
Millard, I actually like political discussions, but it can get to be non-productive because many people have strongly held opposing views and they aren't going to agree. My 2 cents: I don't think the stories about Obama's past or distortions about his positions are really swaying many people who weren't already against him anyway. In particular, the "socialist" line of attack against Obama is ridiculous. By that logic, Reagan was a socialist, and everyone else who has supported our progressive tax system. The overwhelming majority of what government has always done is "wealth redistribution" - this isn't some radical new scheme from Obama, but it's portrayed that way to try to scare people into thinking Obama is extreme. I know more about Obama than I do about any previous candidate I can recall, and the more I learn about him and see how he thinks through issues, the more I like him. I'll take the elitist professor with the cool temperament, thoughtful decision-making, and first-rate intellect over the shoot-from-the-hip, hot-headed, divisive guy any day. And even aside from temperament and intellect, there isn't a single important issue, including foreign policy, where I would feel more comfortable with McCain in charge. I actually liked McCain eight years ago, but he lost me with his poor decisions of late, and Obama continues to earn more and more of my confidence.
I'm a moderate who has voted for candidates of both parties in the past, but choosing a side in this election is the easiest decision I've made in a long time.
