A White Christmas Posted Sunday, December 26, 2010 11:33 AM I guess seeing a WHITE CHRISTMAS is one of those things that I always wanted to see but just never thought I would check off of my Bucket List. Just part of growing up in Georgia and the South. When they tell you that the last one here in Metro Atlanta was 1882, well...the odds aren't very good. But sometimes we receive unexpected blessings! God is good! It started snowing here in Marietta on Christmas Day 2010 around noon. It was still too warm for most of it to stick... around 38 degrees. But as the hours passed and the temperature went down, it did start to accumulate. And by the time it got dark it was still snowing pretty steadily. It stopped snowing around 10:00 or so as the snow moved further south and to the east, on the way up the east coast. We ended up with almost two inches of measurable snow in our yard. Enough on the roads that our church cancelled our morning worship service. Merry White Christmas everyone! Life is good! |

RE: A White Christmas Posted Monday, December 27, 2010 08:57 AM .... and a HISTORIC check off as well! It truly was beautiful and as you said even more significant given the date and location. I guess if we just keep our gas burners going, we can produce more "Climate Change, aka Global Warming" and have more beautiful White Christmas's - just like the ones previous generations used to know. Check out Diane and Dick's pics on Facebook to see what Christmas in Colorado looks like! That is another thing I can recommend for anyone's bucket list. Spend a Christmas in Colorado Springs. Visit the zoo, Seven Falls, Garden of the Gods, the Broadmoor, Manateau Springs, etc....... Allow at least a week! Truly pleasing to the eyes! |
