I will also post on our Facebook site, but I've been trying to make arrangements to send flowers for Wayne's service from our class.   Buds and Bows in Crawford not open.   I tried several florist in Athens, also not open or not delivering this afternoon.  I tried online ordering but the earliest delivery date was for Monday.   I did speak with a nice lady at Frances Florist who suggested going to a grocery store and buying a pot or arrangement and taking it to the Funeral Home ourselves.  I spoke with Ray Wheless and Nancy Tucker Griffiths and we decided to do that and Nancy has agreed to get it and deliver it to the funeral home.   I hope that is o.k. with others in the class.  Thanks Nancy!

I am sad to hear about Wayne. I knew him and his wife Rosemary very well. He and his family were close neighbors of our family living in the Wolfskin community. I knew Wayne's Mom & Dad, Swayne and Magnolia, and Wayne's brother Roy too. And I very well remember the tragic accident that took the lives of Wayne and Rosemary's two children years ago. I will be praying for the family. Thanks Jimmy and Gary and Connie for letting us know and thanks for making arrangements to send flowers from our class...

What a great memory that was, Ray. Seeing Gone with the Wind at Loew's Grand.  For me it was the first time I saw it.  I still have a program of the movie that I bought that day... 50 years ago.  Hard to believe...  I wish I lived closer so I could be there with you all on the 29th... Sounds like fun...

I will never forget Alvin and some of our adventures. We lived maybe a half mile apart on a dirt road, and rode same bus from age eleven up, with his older brother Howard, and twin sisters, LynAnne and DyAnne. I remember all the basketball games in his front yard, his dog, Corky, and the wonderful meals served by his mother, Miss Ernestine, at the family table that was about twenty feet long.  Alvin was a very well behaved student as was all of Mr. Walter and Mrs. Ernestine 's children. He was a hard worker there on the farm as well. We were in the Boy Scouts together, and on May 29, 1969' we stood beside each other in Atlanta and were sworn into the U.S. Navy together. We joined on the buddy system, flew to Great Lakes together, and after three days I did not see him again until we both were finished with our service. I remember his first car, a Pontiac with bucket seats and 389 engine, and his motorcycle, a Harley with the gear shift beside your knee. He was a quiet man with high morals who never forgot his upbringing.

Foots, I too have all those memories (except the Navy). And I am grateful for each and every one.

When I moved to Oglethorpe County in 1965, Alvin took me under his wing and showed me around and introduced me to Jimmy and Charles.  We had a lot of memories together as friends.  My memories of Alvin being my first friend when I moved to OCHS will always be special to me.
