Roy Nation VIEW PROFILE

Roy G. Nation, 62, of Eatonton, Georgia died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his residence. Born on June 15, 1948 in Hiawassee, GA he was the son of Annie Bradshaw Nation of Hiawassee, GA and the late J. T. Nation. He attended school at Hightower in Hiawassee, GA and also in Maxeys, GA. He joined the United States Marine Corps in May of 1967 and retired in March of 1974 receiving a number of medals including two Purple Hearts while serving in Vietnam. He was seriously injured in Quang Tri, Vietnam receiving fragmentation wounds to the head and right knee. On December 14, 1996 Roy married the former Faye Leach of Union Point, Georgia. For eighteen years he worked for Reynolds Landing as an Equipment Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Mt. Stephens Baptist Church in White Plains. Roy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his mother, Annie Bradshaw Nation of Hiawassee, GA, he is survived by his wife, Faye Leach Nation of Eatonton, GA; his daughter, Malerie Williams and husband Heath of Valdosta, GA; his sons, David Greg Nation and wife Stacie of White Plains, GA and Troy Nation and wife Aubrey of Buckhead, GA; stepsons, Lee Lindsey and wife Tonya of Greensboro, GA and Scott Lindsey of Eatonton, GA; a sister, Niota Nation of Hiawassee, GA; a brother, Warren Nation of Union Point, GA; six grandchildren, Heather Nation, Morgan Nation, Courtland Nation, Logan Nation, Caitlin Nation and Kennedy Williams; step grandchildren, Carrie Lindsey, Elijah Lindsey, Jacob Lindsey, Austin Lindsey and Michelle Cook; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Denver Nation.

Memorial Services with military honors will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mt. Stephens Baptist Church, 6859 Edwards Road, White Plains, GA 30678 with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Stephens Baptist Church, c/o James C. Edwards, Treasurer, 22175 Highway 15, White Plains, GA 30678. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service Sunday at Mt. Stephens Baptist Church. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
