To me best friend - at the end you had no regrets- miss fishing for the big one that got away / ski trips, the Harley, the Cape, Paula and you, the Band and your great guitar playing , May you rest in peace at Long Lake.
To Bob's lasting memory... Whenever I hear Van Morrison's 'Moondance' I can't help but think of you.
In the 1980s and 1990s I've thought back on musicians at LHS. Talented teens fall so fast into cloistered, private musical whirlpools. We settle too early and too deep on regular bandmates while all around us, when, like the sparkles in a star-filled sky, endless combinations of talent waste our talent and time. Over the years and in retrospect, one finally realizes that right next to us there were even brighter stars-- that an Al DiMeola or a Steve Gadd or a Sting was there all along. Dick Beebe was one of those as was Andy Tucker. Decades after the 1970s times have changed-- we no longer have to "group" to be successful, but with multi-track recording we can invite dozens of people to the studio to add a lick, stir the pot, lay down rhythm sections, or help produce something unique... and each song can have a whole different lineup.
Bob, yours is one phone I would have rung to ask you to the studio... Moondancing.
After all these years I forgive you for firing me from our first band at William Diamond Jr. High, replacing me with Rick Palm. De mortuis nihil nisi bonum.
