Lori, Yes to keeping the website...I only check periodically but is great for keeping in touch!

Curt...Since when did you need a jacket for winter? I don't like winter. I'm sitting here in my basement office and my fingers are freeeezing!

Hi everyone, glad everyone is surviving the crazy weather. Sounds like a heat wave here next week.

Lori I vote to keep the website even though I don't get on very often. It's awesome to be able to look at everyone's messages.

Dan thank you so much for the Louie CD I love it. I listen to it all the time.

Hi Lori: Yes, please keep this site up & running for the few breaks we do have in our lives to be able to check in. I'm good to go to Vegas in March and in the Fall. Just let me have the dates way ahead to check out prices. It would be wonderful if we could get a group of our grads to rendezvous there for our Birthday Celebration. If not in 2009, shoot for 2010? Keep me posted.

Well you know Ruth. You could come to Iowa this winter and join us in this Wonder Winterland. Then we can go to one of the Casino's here and root for you. And you can teach me my next hobby. What do you think?

Kristi, glad to see you stop by once in awhile. Any wedding dates yet for you and Ed, or Michelle and Brad? I hear one of our classmates will tie the knot in June, but it is not at my liberty to say who. Maybe this "who" will get on and announce it. How about it, will you? Hmmmmmmm?

Let the rumors begin. This could be fun.

Terri, I have 4 more that haven't even begun to have children. If they each have 3, that would make 21 grandchildren, 14 children and spouses, and Kevin and I for the holidays. I have really got to get a bigger house. Or celebrate all holidays in the spring, summer or fall, cuz I know they all have lawn chairs. Oh, my GOSH! That is alot of people! And I thought my family was big. Who would have thought 30 years ago we would be grandparents?

FUNNY! Looking at my 2009 calendar and there is no June this year. WHEW!!!! Scratch my name off the rumor mill about getting married for the *gulp* fourth freaking time. Bucket Beck is pretty damn happy being single.

HA! That's right, Davey. Curtis used to never wear a coat. Now he is crying about 20 degrees. I took my garbage out to the dumpster last night in my bare feet. Let me make this serious safety reminder to my classmates. DO NOT DO THIS! How can extreme cold burn?

I am going to Fort Worth, TX, February 2nd for a company meeting. They are only 70 degrees warmer than Saint Paul.

Oh shoot Cousin Dan - I thought you were going to make the 4th time the charm and live "happily ever after." hehehe

Personally I think any man (or woman) out there secretly envies your singleness. Being single is "okay" and I should know as I was that way for 45 years!!!

Grandma B always told me, "Christi, your troubles don't begin until you are married!" (when I bemoaned my singleness in my 30s) and she was so right. lol

However, all that said, I do enjoy being married and now especially having a family/child for the first time. :)

Marriage isn't that bad Dan. Kevin is my 3rd, and I think I finally got it. But, I envy anyone that has been married for 20 or 25 years to the same person. They should count their blessings!

Well people Edgar E-mailed me won't talk on the forum his quote "better to be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doute" so I guess that Means he's calling us fools LOL I think hes just chicken!

Danny: Ft. Worth, TX in February is like Spring/Summer for you. Forecast for Austin this week: Sunny & 70's.
I don't miss the snow and cold!!! Sorry Lori, I'll meet ya in Vegas, but Iowa is not in the cards during Winter for me. Why do you think I moved from Chicago? Ruth

Gorgeous daughters Carla!! You must be so proud! Thanks for posting the photo. Have a great week everyone and for Edgar: "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me!" You know, why were we taught that little ditty when we were kids - words sure CAN hurt!! :)

Wayne and I watched the inauguration proceedings on TV today. Very emotional to see this great country transfer power so peacefully. Will see what the next 4 years bring! I am hoping for the best but not necessarily expecting it. :(

And as for the Super Bowl Dan? The only time I was ever remotely interested in football was when John Elway played for the Broncos - now THAT was football. :)

I don't get a chance to log on very often but it's quite entertaining to read what everyone posts on this site!! My vote is to keep it going because it at least gives us a chance to "chat" when we don't get to see each other very often.

Edgar, didn't anyone ever tell you that it's hard to win an argument with a woman? We always find something to be right about! As far as I'm concerned, anyone who was in our class at any time throughout our years at good ole' SEW helped to make our class what it was and what it still is today so jump right in!!!

I'm just going to put in my 2-cents worth. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am SOOOO glad this election and the inauguration is over!!!! I think it's time we move on to more important things now. Two weeks ago Meredith laid off 250 people, 100 people in Des Moines and it was one of the saddest days of my life to have to say good-bye to a lot of good people. I thank God every day that I still have a job. I think it's a slap in the face to see our country spending millions of dollars on pomp and circumstance when there are people who are so discouraged and don't know where their next dollar will come from. I used to think I was proud to be an American but, sort of like Edgar was saying, I think sometimes we look like fools.

All right, I'm done venting.

To drastically change the subject, congrats to Curt on his daughter's wedding and congrats to all of you whose families are expanding with grandchildren. My oldest daughter is the only one that's married and don't know exactly what her plans are for a family. She is currently enrolled in the law enforcement training center in Moberly, Missouri, so I never dreamed I might have a cop in my family!!

And I see that Penny and Patty (Johnson) have a birthday today so Happy Birthday to you!!

Gotta go!

EDGAR ENTERLINE ROCKS!!!!

But you are on your own if you think you can take on the female classmates. I'll gladly stand back and watch you fail. HA HA!!!!

Does it matter if our new president has plaid colored skin or green for that matter? This country still has a real hang-up on race to be making such a big deal about him being an (I dislike this label) African-American. I being a Minnesotan-Iowan have grown really tired of his race being an issue. We are all humans. Let's judge him on the job he does.

See what you started Becky. I had to get on the soapbox you steppped off of.

Becky Lundberg (King)

Dan, thank you, thank you, thank you! I can't tell you how how good it is to finally hear someone else say that!! I am not a political person by any stretch of the imagination but to my way of thinking, race/heritage, whatever you want to call it, should never have been an issue but that is what everything turned into. It's become the whole focus of this inauguration and "historical moment" (another phrase I'm sick of hearing!) Every president since George Washington has made his mark in history in some way or another and Obama is just the next man to take the job. As long as he is making good choices for all of the American people, who cares what the man looks like. As you say, let's judge him on the job he does regardless of the color of his skin.

Dan, you've done my heart good!!

Lori,

I looked back through the prior posts and saw the one where you were originally asking about keeping the website. I don't know the cost but there are still some funds in our class account so if you need reimbursed, I think everyone would be fine with the expenses coming out of the account we set up.

Are there any plans to get together again any time soon?

01/21/09 06:54 PM #482

Lori Godlove (Goering)

Wow! I have never seen this much chatter in a long time! Becky, don't worry about it, I got it covered. Just keep popping in every once in awhile. And you too, Edgar! Join us fools.

Lori Godlove (Goering)

And Becky, I totally agree with you on the elections and the inauguration. To much woo to do! Of course, I do understand that there needs to be a celebration, in some sort. Personally I think it should have been toned down quite a bit, with the situation this country is in now. Everyday, every single day you read about layoffs, shutdowns, etc. I don't understand it. People losing their jobs, losing their homes, food prices go up, gas prices go down (for now), good hardworking people go on welfare and food stamps, and lose everything they have worked for. This is just a domino effect. We cannot blame this all on the GOP, our people have to buck up and take responsibilities to. Obama promises to fix this, I would really like to know how. How is he going to get the American people working again? All the jobs are being shipped out of the country. What is left of Electrolux- gone- going to Mexico! If he is going to fix it, he had better hurry the hell up! Don't you think, Edgar?????

Well I got that off of my chest too. Sorry everyone. But thanks for reading.

Oh Ruth, how about Kansas City- it is mid point.

Oh and a big CONGRATS goes out to our good friend Dixie. She will be getting married in June! Congratulations Dixie!!!! Best wishes to you and Ron! (oh you know I have a big mouth(hehehe).
