David Weeks Hey Danny...He forgot to pay his taxes...and gets nominated anyway! (He probably thought the money would be used for a bailout)! What do you think would happen to us if we did anything close to that? It's hard to believe what some get by with? Non-specified CHANGE...BAIL-OUTS...All recipes for disaster. I'm praying for all our leaders because they will need it.

Curt - explain please about the digital TV thing and the stimulus package. I would like to know what your very brilliant mind thinks of all of this! Don't be shy! None of the rest of us are and I for one don't know what I am talking about! I am trying to figure this economy thing out.

Lori sent me the most interesting videotape on a lesson about the Middle East which I find fascinating - still trying to watch it in snippets, Lori. Again, thanks for sending it and I would post it here on the board - just with a warning that it has religious overtones and people (Dan!!) can watch it at their own risk. lol

P.S. After what you said about moving to a warmer climate, Lori, if you look at where our classmates live in this big country of ours, there are a FEW very smart ones who had the right idea! :)

Seems like a lot of pet projects.

I don't see why we don't do the capitalist thing and just increase the federal debt and give everyone a tax cut and forget the goverment spending. Let people decide what they want ...some will buy big screen TVs they can't afford , some will save it, some will go back to school ... kind of like capitalism.

What's the middle east video about?

Haven't followed any political crap today, thought I would give myself a break.

Speaking of the analog/digital TV- now someone explain to me why you can call and get a coupon (my mother has one of these) for $40.00 off? Why can't everyone buy it for $10.00 without the coupon? And you know what else, I think senior citizens on a fixed income should get the thing free. Another question, who gets the 4 for the boxes?

The keyboard player for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Powell, passed away Wednesday morning. I being a huge fan of the original Skynyrd find this news to be very sad. There are only a couple members left of the FREEBIRD. It is tough seeing so many of your rockstars pass away and yet Barry Manilow lives on.

Wishing Billy a peaceful journey.

Iowa's First Stimulus Project Is Bike Trail

"Iowa has it's first proposed project to be funded with economic stimulus money.

David Weeks Lori, I have heard Jon Courson's Searchlight in the past and it is an excellent resourse. Keep listening... What a great superbowl except the outcome! Hope for warmer weather tomorrow! I got put on a waiting list for the $40 DTV coupon because...the government is short on funding! Go figure.

Dave, don't rush, I heard that the digital TV is on hold until June now. And what is up with the coupons? Just sell them for $10.00 and be done with it. I ordered one for my mom and it took a couple of weeks to get to her.

I do like Jon Coursland, very informative. I am behind on a couple so that is my goal for this evening. Just as soon as we get our taxes ready for tomorrow. ICK!

Lori they tried to get they tv converters on hold until june it didn't happen I work where we sell the boxes and they out of money if you get where you need one David I bought 2 for lmy girls and they never took one so I might have 2 for sale

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LORI!!!! This is your last 40-something year, so live it up, but you know Oprah says the 50s are more wonderful than the 40s - yeah, easy for her to say! But truly each year is a blessing and don't we all in the class of '78 know it. :)

In honor of your birthday, I am posting a You Tube video of Elmo singing Happy Birthday. Elmo is big around this house right now. :) I am just as much enthralled with him as Emma, though.

Hope the year ahead brings all wonderful things for you. And happy birthday to all February b-days.

David Weeks Thanks Terri for the possible DTV converter offer...I'm probably not going to get a $40 coupon. Lori, the DTV coupons are a mess...just like how the government has messed up alot of other things. Makes you feel good about where your tax money goes, huh? Speaking of taxes, I've got to go do mine now. If I don't I might get nominated to a government position. I know..I know, bad joke!

Dave - you are becoming quite the curmudgeon - you are almost 50 after all. :) Elmo is silly? - I don't think so! He is adorable.

As for Rick - heavy medication will get him on a plane. :) Truly. Go to your family physician and ask for Ativan or another anti-anxiety medication. I have only recently become afraid of flying - I used to think it was fun. Now I use Ativan when I fly. You are still scared a bit, but the thing is, you don't care that you are afraid!! lol

Rick - life is just too short to not go places and see things. Go and have a great time! You may even find you really like flying.
