I think Dan has a idea here, we could build a jail on our float and as we travel along the parade route, we could "arrest" people and put them in jail on our float...The sign on the float could read "Cleaning up Milo Wild, Wild, West style" brought to you by the SEW Class of 1978. Kinda corny, but we are in IOWA...lol Oh well, just a thought.

Becky Lundberg (King)

I don't think it's "corny" at all, Barb. Like you say, it is Iowa, after all. I think that was Dan's earlier idea too about locking up the teachers but then it looked like we weren't getting much attendance from the teachers so then other ideas have been suggested.

So where does the vote stand now? I haven't voted at all because I don't have much to contribute. I can be there to help on the 3rd and can paint signs or whatever but that's about it. If we can't throw candy, I'm happy to just walk alongside and hand the candy out too. Whatever we do, I'm sure we'll make it fun.

Becky, you should be able to go on and view the results of the survey.

Might want to rethink the jail. The Alumni is using that one.

Or just make sure our is BETTER than theirs!! LOL

Well there are going to be walking around and putting people in jail, and Jasper E. is going to be the sherriff on the float.

The alumni is stealing our ideas? We should raid their float and set it on fire during the parade. HUH?!??! Yea, a bit too harsh.

Damn, I like the idea of arresting people along the parade route.

Also, just wanted to invite everyone out Saturday night for our own fireworks, well not ours. They are gorgeous. My daughter and husband have friends that spend extra special $ on fireworks, and it is quite a show. Actually my son-in-law adds too, which I think he should be saving for grandchildren. I think Dianne and Rick, Greg and Mike Allen can testify to it. We can see Milo's and our's (and our's are better) right from our yard. You can check out www.johngouldphotography.com to see the photo's of the last to years. And I know my dad is looking down and loving them with me!

Rather than doing a jail then, we could just call ourselves the "Class of '78 Posse - keeping Milo clean" (using Barb's words) - we wouldn't need a jail for that necessarily but could still take people out of the crowd. Does anyone know how to make or use a lasso? Lori, do you know if the Alumni has any wording on their float (since you're getting the inside scoop)?

Lori- What time today(Friday)are you working on the float? I'll have my sister's kids until the afternoon, but can come up after that if anyone will be there. We have a lariat(lasso) if you need one for the float.

The float is ready to go! And Danny has the pre-pictures. The "Saloon" was chosen since the alumni stole the idea of the jail. Can't wait for everyone to see the pictures! Surely we will get 1st place!

A huge thanks to Mike, Lori, Barb, Rick, Dianne, Patty, Edgar, Becky, Kevin and Barb's Mom, Joyce. I could not be more proud of our class.

First Place!!!! That is fantastic!

Once again the class of 78 proved what we can do when we work together. We could not have won without EVERYONE'S help...that includes the ones that simply sent good thoughts to us since they couldn't attend in person. It was exciting to win and secure some funds for next years' float and get-together...Lori, start planning!! ha ha

I also want to thank Diane for helping, even though she graduated "a few years" after we did. Your "costume" was definately a hit. Hope the kids at school don't give you too much hassle.

Everyone keep in mind that now that we "challenged" the other classes and won, we have a reputation to uphold...imagine that, the Class of 78 having a reputation. LOL

Congratulations!! Fantastic float! Glad you all had fun - wish more people could have participated but now that you have the ball rolling, maybe each year more of our classmates can gather together on the 4th.

We went to the Greeley Stampede Parade and as usual, it was great, but I have to tell you that Wayne said afterward that as nice as the parade is in Greeley, he would prefer going to the Milo (or a small-town) parade. He thinks they are more fun and you know they are!

We had sunny and beautiful weather for the parade in Greeley and Emma loved the horsies the best. Then it clouded up and poured rain for most of the day until the evening when it cleared up just in time for the EP fireworks. We are expecting hot and dry weather all the coming week - bring it on!!! So sick of the cold and rain.

The tourists are back in EP en masse (I had to fight my way through the grocery store today). If any of you are coming out here this summer or fall, look us up! We are not in the phone book, so you can send me a private message here on the site.

We are coming back for the Iowa State Fair - wanting to know Jim when you are going to be there with your miniature horses. Isn't that what you show? Emma LOVES horses (don't know where she gets that from!) and we will come see you at the stables if you are going to be there - let me know the dates but we are only going to be there during the first weekend of the fair - not sure the day yet.

Dan, a lot of the thanks need to go to you too!! While it was somewhat of a letdown that we didn't get to see the chaps, you still looked quite dashing in your black attire and cowboy hat. We couldn't have done it without you!! I think some people are starting to take notice of how much fun we're having. 2010 here we come!!

Hello classmates. This past weekend was a true joy for me. Our class has a real magic that brings us together. I had such a nice time planning and working on the float. I had a blast being in the parade. Most of all, I relished in the true friendship vibe that exists among us. It is so contagious that people from outside of our class are drawn to our gatherings and we gladly welcome them. My parents are so amazed the way we look forward to this event and the fun we have. I want to say I feel sorry for the other classes. I hear the class of ’79 did not have a 30th reunion. We just had a 31st. Kind of a small turn out but we still got together and spent a fun evening of story telling and catching up on our lives. What we have in this class is wonderful. I could not have wished for a better group of people to be my classmates. Thank you.

We will be doing this again next year. Mark your calendars.
