*Internship and Residency in Small Animal Surgery 1975-1977 Angell Animal Medical Center, Boston, Ma.
*Assistant, Associate Professor of Small Animal Surgery at Louisiana State University Scholl of Veterinary Medicine, 1977-1982.
*Associate and Full Professor Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, 1982-1998. Head, Department of Small Animal Surgery.
*Director of Surgery, Angell Animal Medical Center, Boston. 1998-Present. *President American College of Veterinary Surgeons 2007, Chairman American College of Veterinary Surgeons 2008.
*Developed over 70 original surgical techniques to date for small animal surgery. Specialist in Soft Tissue Surgery (Abdominal, Thoracic, Oral, Facial, and Reconstructive Surgery.)
*Author of Atlas of Small Animal Reconstructive Surgery and Atlas of Small Animal Wound Management and Reconstructive Surgery, 3rd ed., 2010, Wiley-Blackwell Publisher. [Considered the authority in small animal reconstructive surgery after trauma, cancerous tumor resection, congenital defects.]
*Author of numerous research articles and chapters on Small Animal Surgery.
* National and International Speaker on Small Animal Reconstructive Surgery ( including Europe, South America, Australia, Japan).
* 1996 Award Recipient for major contributions to Veterinary Medicine: Bourgelat International Award, British Small Animal Veterinary Association.
* 2010 University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Erwin Small Distinguished Alumni Award

Waukegan's Wild Goose-- great music with a special fondness for the group "Four Days and a Night".
High school wrestling- interesting mixture of pain and joy.
Interesting mix of competent, semi-competent teachers in the Libertyville School Systems with a few individuals that had the educational skills of my ball python.
