Hello everyone in the digital world! It's time to remember the past and share the future. Wow --- What were you doing 30 years ago today? I have many unforgettable memories of our Elementary, Middle School, and High School past. Go Wildcats! After all it was our beginning... I really do enjoy reading the profiles highlighting your life experiences. I bet if we put all our experiences together we could publish a book, from walking around a reservoir to ---well kids, careers, you name it! Anyway, I look forward to sharing and dialoguing via the internet. I think the internet started in 1978. Do you guys remember carrying wireless laptops? If we had, I can picture mine whizzing down the hall like a bowling ball.
My life changed in August 1982 when Rod Wilkin and I decided to enlist in the United States Navy. (We went to boot camp together and then selected different careers within the Navy and separated upon graduation. I want the class to know we really did graduate with special people. Rod was a perfect example; out of 2200 recruits Rod was selected Master of Ceremonies, honored with the role of presenting the graduating class to the Secretary of the Navy and all the brass. Rod , miss ya buddy!! Tear... )
The Navy brought me to San Diego, where I meet my wife Maria. We have been married since December 1988 and have no children, but enjoy spending time with nieces and nephews. Maria is an educator, consultant and author, endlessly busy with the challenges of her field. This gives me plenty of time to play. I wish-- actually, I have been busy as well. After the Navy, I started a career in sales. Do you remember pocket pagers and brick phones? I sold in the wireless industry for eight years, and then transitioned to selling boats twelve years ago. I feel lucky combining a passion for the water with my career.
As much as I enjoy San Diego nothing can replace home. I make it a point to visit friends and family in Lima as often as possible. Greg Lovett, thanks for picking me up at the airport year after year... Can you imagine the conversations??
REALLY, should I really start?? Clarke-chaos in class? I seem to remember our classmates giving all teachers their undivided attention. That said, I think that coming from a very competitive school has enabled us to thrive in many different avenues of life, hobbies and careers. KUDOS to Barb McCIintock(Sisk) for taking the initiative to start this web site! I look forward to attending the class reunion and hope everyone continues to accelerate towards lifes goals.
Onward and Upward, Rick Nichols
