James O Oliphant, 63, died at 7:07am September 19 2006, at St Rita’s Medical center.
He was born August 18, 1943 in Lexington Mississippi to John and Alberta Simmons Oliphant, who preceded him in death. On October 20, 1971 he married Louise Napier who survives in Lima.
Mr. Oliphant retired as a tow truck driver from Ford Motor Company Engine Plant. He had also worked at Champaigne residential Services.
Survivors include five children, Rhonda (Gregory) Phillips of Lima, Brian (Penny) Oliphant of Cincinnati, Eric (Kim) Oliphant of New Jersey and Bernard Oliphant and Riva (Hershal) Herring, both of Lima; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Oliphant Jr of Vandalia and Daniel Oliphant of Lima; a sister, Patricia Reynolds of Lima; and aunt, Sarah Kimbrough of Fort Wayne Indiana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sylvester and David Oliphant
Services will begin at 11am Monday at Siferd Funeral Home, Westwood Chapel. The Rev Robert Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 6 to 8pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
