Hi Classmates,
I am sorry that I haven't kept up much on our Website, but if anyone has any information or news to post please post it or let me know and I can post it. I have made many of our classmates co-administrators for this site. I cannot guaranty that I will be the last one of us around. This way, those of your who enjoy the site can keep it running,
Like all of you, I have been busy with life. I just completed the halfway point for my PhD coursework. I should finish my coursework in one more year. So much has changed since I was last a student, After that, I start the dissertation process and should graduate in Fall 2026. I am struggling to find a topic.
When i started the program a recent graduate of it gave me some advice. He said, figure out what you will give up ad get a tutor. I gave up participating in all of my social organizations, and told the law school, they could keep me on the Adjunct Faculty roster but I cannot teach any classes again until I finish my coursework. I also found statistics, econometrics and dissertation tutors.
On the personal front, my youngest daughter has completed her chemo and surgery. All is good and she should start her reconstructive surgery in 6 months. Deborah and I have been full time residents of Florida for 13 years now, enjoying the weather and when I have time availing ourselves of our beach. Business here is booming and I cannot hire enough competent, qualfied people. For anyone planing on migrating to Southeast Florida, the work ethic here is not what we are used to. This is a problem here.
Wishing everyone a great summer.
Myron

In Memorium: Karen Sholder
Obituary
Karen J. Sholder, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2024, following a brief illness. She would have celebrated her 73rd birthday next week, her favorite day of the year. Karen is survived by her dog, Jasper Mousse; daughter, Katie; stepson, Sean; grandson, Jacob; many nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends, and ALL of the dogs that she devoted her life to saving.
Whether through traditional dog rescue, where she found homes for so many, or by offering their humans help and advice, ensuring they had the best available food, toys, and medicine, or most recently, by working to preserve the breed standards of her beloved poodles, Karen’s work on behalf of dogs never stopped. Whatever she was doing, Karen worked tirelessly at it and her only concern in every situation was “what’s best for the dog”.
While the suddenness of her passing has left Karen’s loved ones struggling to process their grief, they find peace with the knowledge that she met Jack Doodle at the Rainbow Bridge, and they are now together again and for eternity.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morris Animal Foundation, www.morrisanimalfoundation.org or the local dog/breed rescue of your choice. Chapel service Thursday, January 2, 2025, 10:00 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment following at Shalom Memorial Park. For information, including a link to view the service, and to leave condolences, www.shalommemorial.org or (847) 255-3520.
