ABOUT LAST SATURDAY AT CAJUN'S:
I got there late so I missed some of our classmates, Karen Wise I am sorry I didn't get to see you. Vicki and Jeff, I enjoyed talking to both of you. Pam, I didn't get to visit with you and your husband, maybe next time. I am certainly glad all of you first timers showed up. Amy Mitchell, I would like to have talked to you a little more as I don't think I really knew you in high school. That is what is great about these little gatherings, getting to know classmates that you didn't know 25 yrs ago. April, Teresa, Kim, Caroline and Paul, Steve and all the rest of the regular crew, it was fun as usual. We do have a great group of classmates.
Just for the record: It is well know that I am not much of a dancer, and I did not dance with Monica as previously stated on the forum. As a matter of fact, I did not dance with anyone. I know Monica was having fun though. She may have been hanging out with her sister Veronica, and when those 2 are together, LOOK OUT!!! They are so much fun!! Mass confusion? I guess I am massively confused, but then again, what else is new? I hope everyone had fun. We have discussed the possibility of having a LIONS Classmate Halloween party. If anyone is interested I would love to hear your comments.
Elizabeth Reves - I hope your migraines subside soon, you are missing a great time. My new job is taking all of my time and unfortunately I am working every Saturday for a while, so please find someone else to help with the Race for the cure 3 miles of men coordination.

08/28/08 11:33 AM #505

Elizabeth Reves

Thanks Andy. Don't work too hard now!!

So are there any of you guys out there to help us out as our Three Miles of Men coordinator???? How about just as a participant?? I will settle for a bunch of participants and no capitan...
As a participant in 3 MOM you receive a specially designed T-Shirt, invite to the 3 MOM tailgate party on Friday night at Diamond Bear Brewery with free music and beer, and complimentarty breakfast if you are one of the first 100 people to arrive at the Capitol Smikehouse and Grill Saturday morning. Not to mention... You get to cheer all the walkers and runners on to victory. You don't have to walk or run, you can just hang out.
Now, the 3 MOM group is looking for capitans to actually perform some type of function along the route -I don't know what, but if you are interested please let me know and I will get you fixed up.

Big John ~ Back at cha darlin!!! Where the heck have you been during all the socials???? I'm mad at you boya'

And thank you to all who have sent me "Congrats" on the grandchildren. What a blessing they truly are....having a bad day? Stop in and the smiles of babes their sweet voices and gleam of sunshine ohhhh what a refreshing feeling that comes over you!!

There has been several of our classmates that have emailed me stating they are sad because they haven't been able to attend our socials...#1 Can't find sitters for children, #2 Not a place they can bring they're children because of no baby sitter. My thought is of which I am trying to work this up with a couple of our classmates is to have a picinic - filled with games and fun at a pavillion possible at Pinnicle - We are checking the football schedule to see when a game is not televised or maybe is....and go from there.

WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ABOUT THAT? Please respond everyone.....Let's be able to include our whole class for these socials every now and then!!! Yippee!!!

Big John....My vote is for us just to meet up at your shop and everyone participate in going through your Haunted House!!! It can be a social event for us all...and better yet DONATE TO A WORTHY CAUSE - Plus most of us haven't seen you in 25 years. We all seem to be supportive of many and now it's your TURN. You have done an excellent job doing charity, he truly has and THIS TIME WE NEED TO COME HELP SUPPORT YOU AND THIS EVENT!! Really everyone...John, put the dates out there again for us and let's vote on what night we will be there.

Do I hear a HELL YAA out there?....<---sorry got a little fired up about it!! COME ON CLASSMATES LET's HELP SUPPORT THIS EVENT AND JOIN TOGETHER AND HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE For the children! I expect to see the forum light up about this......like the other socials. =)

Sonia Coburn (Lucas)

P.S. I AM NOT LOOKING TO BE THE SOCIAL ENTERTAINER OR CORDINATOR...LOL. Just trying to get more options for our outings that all can attend. Or ways we can support our State and/or communities when our classmates are rallying. And still have adult nights of course.

How Bout Them Hogs!!!! GO HOGS GO!! Whoooo Pig Sooooie!!

I'll shut up now....wait...it's Friday, it's Friday, it's Friday...ok now I'm done, got it all out!

Hey, Everyone! OK, I know this is a little change in the subject, but I am just curious to know who all has been watching the Democratic Convention? Have you guys been watching the speeches this week? And, what are your thoughts and opinions about Obama? I thought Hillary did a good job with her speech, and of course, Bill as always, did a great job. He could always give a good speech. (does anyone remember when I got him to come spend the day with us in 9th grade at Cloverdale?) I just wondered about everyone else's thoughts. Any takers? Elizabeth? April? Kim? Caroline - I would really love to know what YOU think!

08/29/08 11:10 AM #513

Elizabeth Reves

Geeeeeze, Amy. I am pretty far right - VP of College Republicans. Do you REALLY want to know what I think or can you guess?
I have several very Yellow Dog Democrat friends that say they cannot vote for Obama, and they have been watching the process including the DNC very carefully. I was shocked by their thoughts. I am waiting for an independent that will come along and split the party votes. I cannot decide at this point who it will be. There are some scary scary folks running - it's hard to say who would be the least scary. One VP nominee is a sports handicapper (Libertarian party). Just think - if he became president he could deliver the state of the union address, then tell us what team he thinks will go to the final four! Sports fans unite!
What do you think about McCain's choice for running mate? I am impressed. I think Condoleeza Rice, and now Sarah Palin is really bringing the Republican party into the 21st century in a big way. Finally, women are getting the recognition we deserve as leaders and managers. Our more fully developed frontal lobe is getting it's chance to shine!
Just my opinion... like assholes, we all have one.

08/29/08 11:34 AM #514

Kimberly B. Mordecai

It occurs to me that the unofficial campaign slogan for both camps is...."I'm the lesser of the two evils....no really, I am...you can't be because I am not nearly as bad as you..."

08/29/08 11:47 AM #515

Amy Mitchell

Yeah, the responses I've heard so far haven't been that great. I guess I have a fair split of buddies - some Dems and some Republican. I cannot believe how many people who have tried to get on board with Obama have walked away shaking their heads saying "I just can't do it!" This is one of the most interesting races I've watched for the Presidency. Like Kim, I think most anything can happen this time around and there may be someone who pops up and takes it! And, there are those who say since they just can't vote for Obama they feel they must vote for McCain now. I think Obama is scaring a lot of people, especially the older generations of folks!

08/29/08 12:17 PM #516

Elizabeth Reves

Apparently not just the older ones. the friends I was talking about that said last night they can't vote for him are.... 8 years younger than us. He is frightening a bunch of folks.

08/29/08 02:43 PM #517

Elizabeth Reves

of course as an added note - I feel the need to question anyone's motives who would run for a high level public office. The stress and strain you put your family through with the press crawling up your wazzu with a microscope to see if you have smoked pot, had a drinking problem (had a drink at all), attend church regular (or at all), had affairs, etc.
You will never find me running for office - I had to buy a house with a two car garage as the skeletons would no longer fit in a closet!
Besides, I would spend all my time retiling the White House bathrooms.

08/29/08 03:28 PM #518

Amy Mitchell

HA! Good point, Liz. There's no way I would ever want a job like that, either. As you said, the stress on yourself, your family, etc. I mean, I wonder how they have any time for themselves at all? I guess when you are a public servant you give that up for the most part!

Everyone have a safe and relaxed holiday weekend!

08/29/08 04:47 PM #519

Kimberly B. Mordecai

Elizabeth, my dear...the White House only has 35 bathrooms...what would you do the other 3 1/2 years??

08/29/08 06:18 PM #520

Elizabeth Reves

Duh! the kitchen, bedrooms, and don't forget it takes two months out of each year just to decorate for Christmas. Then there are all those parties to throw. Besides - we're talking 8 years. I could re-do everything twice.
Wow, with that many bathrooms I wouldn't have to actually choose tile, I could have them all. I think I just drooled on the keyboard...

Sonia.......THANK YOU MY OLD FRIEND>>>>>> Ok ok...Sooo maybe not sooo old...still a friend....

Sonia said: There has been several of our classmates that have emailed me stating they are sad because they haven't been able to attend our socials...#1 Can't find sitters for children, #2 Not a place they can bring they're children because of no baby sitter. Considering I have children younger than most people's grandchildren (late bloomer, what can I say?) - I love this idea, Sonia. :) Mine are even still too little to do haunted houses - even silly H'ween things scare my little 'fraidy cats.

And speaking of grandchildren - congratulations on your new little one, Sonia!! :)

08/30/08 05:23 AM #523

Timothy W. Cole

Well, With a Democratic packed house and senate we will have to elect a republican president. that way government can still be inefficient the way it was intended to be.

08/30/08 08:13 AM #524

Karen S. Wise (Owenson)

Tim- hahahahahahahahahaha. I almost couldn't stop laughing this is soo true but sad , also.

Sonia- I do agree i would love to go to the haunted house I can't remember the dates? will you post them and even if we can not come as a group, people can still come as they can and support a good cause and see John too.

Liz- Your head should feel better because mine is awful. You know how when one friend feels better someone else takes the pain. I am that friend.hehe At least I know mine will go away once my sinus' behave themselves. The walmart pharmacy is my friend this week. Oh I think you should run for office the White House does need a Liz makeover.

Amy- On the politics forefront. I have supported both groups at different times since graduation. It is all in how it affects me, my kids and healthcare since I work in that. And being a veteran of the first gulf war I do worry about the boys and girls their now. But even I am having trouble with who to vote in this race. I agree with Kim. I will be voting the lesser of the two evils and I will take into account their running mates and my personal religious beliefs. I will be one of those last minute people to make up their minds on who to vote for. You brought up a very good subject just not one with a good answer from me.

Gina Martin Eggebrecht
The fair will be coming soon . I take my kids to the kids area and to pet the animals (bring anti-bacterial wipes). I don't know if people have to meet up but just know there is a certain day some people will be there and run into each other along the way. The picnic sounds good also but I am not sure the weather will promote this on a set day(fall and all) This time of year for smaller and us older kids is the pumpkin patch and picking out a family pumpkin. Just some ideas thrown out there , hope it helps.

HALLOWEEN HAUNTED HOUSE: BE THERE OR HAVE ANOTHER BORING WEEKEND WISHING YOU HAD SPENT TIME WITH YOUR CLASSMATES.

Big John gave me the dates of the Haunted House. Friday October 31st and Saturday November 1st. Sonia, I'm in, how about you? Anyone else interested? Ned, Teresa, Kim, April, Caroline, Steve Poteet, Steve Woodall, Kim Shaw, Elizabeth Reves, Tony Wittenburg(aka Elvis), all the Cajun crew, and anyone else I forgot to mention. I think most of you can bring your kids to this. Surely Big John won't scare the BeeJeezus out of the little kids will ya? Haha.

Good point about the politics Big John. The best way to ruin friendships is to discuss POLITICS AND RELIGION. It is good to see that none of the lady lions discussions have taken a hard line toward the candidates, as there really isn't anyone worth voting for. I say we vote for: "NONE OF THE ABOVE", like in Brewster's Millions.....

Tim Cole: you make a valid point.

08/30/08 10:39 AM #526

Haunted House...oh my...

You know I'm a big "fraidy cat"...I have to read Dean Koontz books with all the lights on....however, I'd hate to miss a meeting of the Lions....so...

I'm in on the Haunted House trip...but somebody has to promise to hold my hand and guide me through...cause I probably won't open my eyes!!!

08/30/08 12:44 PM #527

Elizabeth Reves

Kim you can just take out your contacts and you won't be afraid of any old haunted house. I'll go, but I may not go in. I am a little jumpy anyway. If the phone rings unexpectedly I scream.

I think a picnic sounds lovely. I'll bring pasta salad. The weather is getting cooler and it would be nice to see all your kiddos. Perhaps I will steal one and bring it home to live with me - and NO! Before any of you ask I don't want your unruly teenager. I'll be stealing a small one - perhaps one of Gina's. She and Brad would not notice one missing for several days.

Karen, sorry about your head... please see email I sent you on de-clogging. It really works wonders.

Yes, I find it difficult to get real ramped up about politics anymore. They should just make me Tsarina or Empress and be done with it. Tim Gunn would be my right hand man, and there would be several folks in my cabinet from HGTV and Food Channel - and of course all of you. We might not get everything straightened out, but at least the country would look better.
