Lion's Night Out Update

The word about LNO is spreading far and wide. It's being passed around on the Facebook, MySpace and Classmates websites and I'm already hearing from lots of Lion's that are looking forward to attending.

This is gearing up to be our best LNO ever!

2008 USMC TOY HILL>>>>DECEMBER 6 & 7...

A letter in response to those complaining about the date change for the arrival of the motorcycle parade.....

(Some of you have asked me offline about the event.)

It’s time again for the annual Toys For Tots parade. The date this year is Dec. 7 which is on a Sunday. We moved it to remove some of the congestion up at Toy Hill. Saturday was always tough to pull off because of all the activities around Toy Hill such as the high school football play offs and all of the car clubs arriving. Parking should be much quicker because we now have the parking lots that were normally full of the football crowd. This will allow us to clear 12th st. and university ave. much faster and take a huge load off the police.

As per usual plenty of scuttlebutt abounds about this event. To those of you who don’t like the new date all I can say is “do your own event on Saturday”. It takes a lot of work and preparation (not to mention money and a huge dedication from all of the toy hill staff) to pull this event off year after year. Those of you who put your mouth in gear, before your brain, you are doing a great disservice to the children of our state that need the gifts that we bring each year. Oh! Excuse me; you thought this was all about you. Did you somehow get lost? The bikers of Arkansas have (for 28 years) come together to make Arkansas the third largest contributor to Toys For Tots in the U.S... Bikers have a huge heart, especially when it comes to kids, and I think this year’s event will be just as great as all the others.

On another subject, I heard that someone was on a radio station stating that the toys that we collect go out of state. If you believe that then let me introduce you to all of my Marine Corp buddies that we give these toys to. You might not want to act that stupid in front of them. They just got back from Iraq and I’m sure that they aren’t in the mood for your stupidity. If you remember, last year they were gone during this event. I, for one, am proud to have them back. They continue to serve not only their country but also their community. WELCOME HOME!

I thought that we were going to have to change the route but it looks like we are back to the old route so all the information is on the flyer and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again this year. Let’s make this the best year ever. With the economy in the ditch these kids need us more than ever.

Rodney and all the crew at Rodney’s Cycle House thank you

I just received this email from Patty Heathcoat Figueroa:

"I just wanted you to know that I received a phone call about an hour ago that Karen McNight died this morning. She fell at home and died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. We don't really know why, however, they are going to perform an autopsy. They suspect that it was a blood clot. She and I have been very close friends for many years now. Although I knew she was on your Missing list, she didn't have a computer at home. She was such a wonderful person. She worked for many, many years at Children's Hospital. I will really miss her. I am still in shock."

She was living in Little Rock, on Saxony Circle. I will let you know as soon as I find out other details.

The "Karen" in Stephanie's email was Karen McKnight. I don't know how many of you remember her. She was very shy in school. I will make sure that I keep Stephanie up to date with any further news as I receive it.

Quick note about LNO at Cajun's last night............

Carl Barrentine and Kevin Smith were in town and came out to see us. They are a hoot! Also, it was great to see and visit with David Sinnett, Ricky Marshall, Mark & Lisa Costa. Of course, the crew was there: Kim Mordecai, April Hoyle Crocker, and Teresa White Verboon. There were a few from the class of '82 that attended: Tom Draper, Todd Stewart, and Mike Oline. In addition, Keith Campbell stopped by for a few minutes. It was great seeing everyone! Until next time, take care! Happy Holidays!

Patti and Steph...
anytime a person dies at home unexpectedly (sometimes even if the person has been ill) an autopsy is performed. They want to make sure there are no signs of foul play.

Though I am always saddened at the loss of someones life. I have NEVER been one to mourn their death yet celebrate their life. So instead of being saddened by their untimely passing...Look at the smiles they brought to your face, the laughter they brought to your day, the warmth they brought to your heart..CELEBRATE THEIR LIFE!!
