i wrote down these words last year... the numbers have unfortunately changed... remember everyone that has given it all... the love i have for the American Warrior never wavers...
"greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother"
Ever since the first shot of the American Revolution, on April 19th, 1775, brave men and women of this great nation, that I dearly love, have given their all, sacrificing youth, innocence, body, soul, and roughly 653,708 gave their lives, so we could have our freedom.
Memorial Day began honoring the Union soldiers that died during the Civil War and after World War I Memorial Day has been a day that honors all who have died in any US war or military action. As of today more than 650,000 have given their lives so all of us can do what we do. I have personally seen what not having freedom can to people of an oppressed country, just simply speaking your mind can sentence you and your whole family to prison or death. We live in the greatest nation on Earth, the men and women who wear the uniform understand the responsibility they have. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines all understand the importance of defending this nation against all that would come against Her. They voluteer to serve, and to follow orders that do put them in harms way, and some volunteer never seeing their family or friends again.
So during this Memorial Day weekend remember what Mermorial Day is.
While you are watching TV, cooking out with family and friends, drinking down a tall one, out at the lake, down at Riverfest enjoying some good music, watching your kids play outside spraying each other with the water hose, taking in a breath of fresh air, reading a comic book or enjoying a good movie at a local theater, whatever you like to do, remember there are men and women who have paid dearly so you can do all this. They were and are proud to do so... and if you see someone in uniform, shake their hand, give them a hug... because they serve so you can be free.
When we are out this weekend raising hell somewhere, have a cold one, look to the sky and say thank you! Then go party your ass off, cause that's what they would love you to be doing!!

I wrote this while enjoying a good cup of coffee, yes freedom taste damn good to me.
